Not sure how long we are going to continue tandem nursing. Just going to play it by ear for now.

We haven't told anyone yet because my SIL just had a baby yesterday. I don't want to invade on her spotlight!
One of my best friends informed me she was pregnant the day we came home from the hospital after having ds. I was so happy for her but at the same time a little sad my pregnancy was over (my horomones were in full rage!!!)

Ok that was off topic

i'm really shocked but every time i tell someone 'in real life' that i'm PG they all start giving me advice on weaning and what not. like last night for the UPTEENTH time a friend of my moms (who just had a baby and refused to 'waste time' with breastfeeding. grrrrrrrrrr!!!) was asking me about her having formula. she says 'you have to wean her so you have time to dry up!'. i just stared at her blankly for a minute and then she was like 'oh, you can breastfeed while pregnant?' i was just like YES! DUH!!

i guess i'm wondering why people dont already know this. i've told about 10 women and 7 out of those ten (in real life, mind you) have told me how sorry they were that i had to quit breastfeeding. i'm floored by the lack of knowledge.

At our last Parents as Teachers appointment, I told our parent educator that we were planning on getting pregnant again soon. She knows dd is still nursing (and I can tell she thinks it's weird) and she asked if I was planning to wean her before getting pregnant. I said no, and she said she was pretty sure that nursing whiel pregnant takes nutrients away from the unborn baby. I told her that was not true. I know she thinks I'm nuts, but I'm so annoyed that someone who is supposed to be an informed educator is spewing crap like that.

I am nursing my 14 1/2 month old son and am about eight weeks into my pregnancy.
To the momma with the six month old, I hope you have an ample milk supply all the way! It has happened before...
I am experiencing a bit of pain, mostly at night time and about half the time when we nurse during the day. There is no way I could wean my son right now, whether fully or just at night. Sometimes when I really, really, really do not want to nurse him at night we have tried having dad soothe Taso, but that just doesn't work so well. DH gets upset right along with DS. One thing a friend recommended that works 100% better than just popping Taso off my nipple is to pinch my nipple to stop the flow of milk, this sort of makes Taso think that the milk is done for now and he stops nursing of what he thinks is his own accord. Sneaky, sneaky, huh?!
He is just way too small for me to tell him he can not nurse anymore. I can not imagine not nursing him! First of all, how would I get him to sleep? :

I'm about 5 months pregnant and still nursing my almost 18 month old. I am considering encouraging her to wean...she's not nursing as often and now it's more about comfort than nutrition. And my breasts are super-sensitive right now so nursing her is agony for the first few minutes each session. I don't want her last bit of nursing to be Mommy wincing every time she latches on, so I really try to hide my discomfort. And I know myself well enough to know that I do not want to tandem nurse a newborn and 2year old, and I don't want Grace to be suddenly cut off either. I'd also like to have a break before starting to nurse someone else. I'm not sure exactly how to go about weaning her, but I figure that (like everything else we've done) we'll sort it out as we go along.

hazel (21 mos) is taking well so far to my gently encouraging her in a weaning direction; we're down to 3 a day, sometimes 2, and when she nurses in the early early morning i can get her to pull off on her own by asking "would you like the other side?" or saying "all done?" it really does hurt, and i feel like she's ready, and my supply seems a little down, but probably more from less nursing than from preg hormones, so far--i still get let down once in awhile (at 8.5 weeks pregnant).

i can't believe all the people telling you mamas that you have to wean, though! that's just silly.

I'm newly pregnant (haven't figured the weeks yet). I'm still nursing my 27 month old. She is fiercely attached to her nursies, and DEMANDS to nurse about 3 or 4 times throughout the day. She is very gentle, so it's possible that she'll be the first one to make it all the way through. She tells me almost every day that she loves my "mook", and nursies are yummy!

I'm still nursing my 26 month old. I'm 9 weeks now and I think the pain is subsiding a bit - but my supply seems to be decreasing also. Ds only nurses before sleep and first thing in the morning. I'm curious to see if he'll wean, but not pushing it.

My fil was asking if Luke would be weaned soon and I heard mil in the background say, "well of course he'll be weaned soon - they have another baby coming along!"....

I nursed ds through my pregnancy with dd and I weaned him the month he turned 3 so about a year after dd was born. mil did not know he had been weaned and that was one of the first things she asked when she found out I was pregnant. "Is Simon STILL nursing?" She has a big issue with extended nursing being solely for the pleasure of the mother. : Obviously she never nursed that long. I think all of hers were weaned by the time a year came around.

Yah, my MIL has issues with extended nursing, as well. I just figure they're her issues, and not mine. It helps that we live 1200 miles away from her.

I'm still nursing my 15 month old I did notice a drop in my supply about two weeks go though not overly significant. I noticed it mostly because my daughter had previously dropped a number of day feedings, and added them back in as well as taken to nursing on both sides to where previously she only nursed on one side to be satiated.

Pregnancy so far hasn't made my breasts hurt, but her deciding to bite me while nursing lately has!
