OK, so you know how every parenting book in the world says that you should give your child a timer they can set themselves? So when you say, "How many more minutes do you want to stay at the playground/watch tv/take your bath?" OR "How long should it take us to pick up all the blocks?" they can then set the timer, and when it goes off they are supposed to be more cooperative than if you had just jerked them away from the playground/tv, or they can celebrate making their goal, whatever.
Well, I've gone through 2 timers that just aren't kid-friendly enough. The first was a normal 60-minute kitchen timer. It was too difficult for my dd's little hands to turn, and even when I made the initial turn, it was hard for her to get precise with those lines being so small. Besides, what good is a 60-minute timer? A 3-year-old isn't going to do anything for 60 minutes. (Except watch Noggin, if I let her...) Then I got a digital one, but her understanding of numbers is not quite there yet. Plus, she is so fond of hearing the little beeps, I can't get her to stop setting the timer (which ends up being set for far too long!).
I've searched the internet to no avail. Isn't there a timer out there that is max. 30 minutes and easy to manipulate? Or something like that?
