Guilt Issues - Page 2

ok, more on the swaddling: I knew I wanted to do back-carries with this baby very early, and getting babies on your back is much easier when they're swaddled, so I planned to swaddle often :-) and asked for a Miracle Blanket from my sister because I'd been told they are the best. This thing is *great* - it's light enough that I can wrap him even in the summer heat if he's naked underneath, and it's stretchy and doesn't come unwrapped easily at all.

Lately, K's become quite dependent on it, actually. He's swaddled 18+ hours/day right now, as of the past few days. I try giving him unwrapped time, but if he's awake he just gets really upset without it. I think he's really easily overstimulated - not a good thing in this family of loud boys - but the swaddling helps. I've been contemplating baby earplugs for him...

This morning he had a poop leak on his swaddling blanket. yikes! I'm thinking about getting a backup.

eta, there is another brand on the kidsurplus site that is very affordable. I have one of those too but it's still too big for him so I can't say how well I like it. It seems great though, wtih a velcro closure and slit for the carseat strap.

Yup, Riley's like that as well... Ds#1 used to fall asleep anywhere and sleep through anything and I, of course, attributed it to the fact that we took care *not* to tiptoe around him and whatnot... you know, get him used to sleeping through the noise and all that. Turns out it was likely just his personality and nothing I did, lol, because Riley *refuses* to fall asleep unless he's swaddled and either lying down or being walked with somewhere quiet and dark. Even the TV being on is often too much for him.

I'm laughing about the baby earplugs, but it's not a bad idea... We sometimes drape a preemie prefold over Riley's face/eyes when he's getting overstimulated - our version of little baby blinders
