OT- Coxsackie virus?

DS spent all of Saturday afternoon playing with a friend- and her mother called me today to let me know that she's just been diagnosed with coxsackie virus. (She also offered me some tomatoes from her garden. )

Anything in particular I should do or not do for DS?

I'd make sure he doesn't get any injections of anything for the next month. No needles, doesn't matter what's in them. JMO

Two of my four recently had it.

If your child comes down with it: Have a good nutritious broth on hand, popsicles, easy-to-stomach foods and drinks. Mine wanted everything cold for a few days (comforting on sores, helped with fever). Lots of rest.

To prevent: Lots of rest. Vitamin C. Your best efforts at great nutrition. We ate a ton of fruits and veggies and I had the kids take a multivitamin for a week or so (we don't usually). Only 2 of them got it, so I think it worked .

And yes, definitely stay away from things that might tax the immune system in the meantime!

What? You mean this week ISN'T a good time to give him 6 untested vaccines and a hefty dose of Tylenol?

He's not "due" for any vaccines right now and I don't even have children's tylenol in the house. I guess I need to be extra vigilant about those trips to the bakery with Zadie? (My dad loves buying him cookies.)

My guy had that last week- The first day I loaded him up with vit C and he was practically healed the next (the bumps/blisters/sores anyways) the following day he refused it all though, and had a rough night that night, but was fine the following day. The bumps took a good few days to clear though.

Naaaahhh Tylenol and vax are perfectly safe! What are you talking about?:

Here's hoping your boy doesn't catch it!

Watch for dehydration. One of my twins was so dehydrated he spent a day/night in the hospital. Funny thing one twin had no problem with it the other refused to eat or drink.

Good luck and I hope he doesn't get it.

He's been cranky and feverish, with much lower appetite than normal for him. DD2 is starting to show the same symptoms as well.

We all went to the chiro yesterday, and we're going back on Friday (her office will be closed the other days this week.) I'm hoping they'll both have only mild cases.
