Egg Donors

Does anyone know where one can find donor eggs without using an agency? My husband and I have been TTC for a very long time now. We've gone through many procedures and things aren't working because of egg quality.

We know there are agencies but their fees only add several thousand dollars to the bottom line. We'd like to skip that.

Any help anyone can give us would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

There was a post awhile ago here from someone who was looking into egg donation - I am not sure if there would be more information on that thread for you or not.

Other than asking friends or family, I unfortunately don't have any ideas for you. The women I know who have gotten donor eggs have gone through an agency.

All the best to you.

My sister was considering egg donation a month or two ago. She had the paper work and everything. I don't know what her plans for it now are though. I'd have to ask.

My RE has a great set up. If you come in with your own donor, they set you up with a legal representative, all the testing, the forms and questionaires that need to be filled out....everything! They don't charge for that. They start the donor (for their first donor experience) at $3500 (paid by my husband and I)....and then - if she wants - she can be on the list for other parents looking for a donor.

The questionaires and most of the blood work only needs to be done one time (there is a time limitation on the blood work - then it has to be redone). Each time she donates, they increase her personal fee by $500.

There has to be a way to find a woman who where both sides agree upon each other. Since we are paying this much money (the medical procedures and legal fees are all picked up by us as well.....) we want to try to get someone with a specific look.

At this point, we've been asking a few waitresses when we are out but many woman have heard stories about this type of thing and they don't want to do it.

I'm really hoping there is someone who has a better way.....

Ive read adds online at surrotype sites. I'm actually trying to find a family and skip the agency route. They make so much money on IPs and I feel there has to be a better way to to help parents and donors meet without the middle man!
