Can someone tell me why not to sign the "refusal to vaccinate"? I am new to all this. we are not vaxing DD (at least for the time being) and I realized by reading this that I don't know how to navigate "the system."

Any advice/tips for us re: what to sign/not to sign, etc. etc.

Please let me know what I should be prepared for, what I need to bring with me to any appt. I go to, and what NOT to sign or admit to, etc.

We did the first DTaP shot at our last appt. and have since decided that we are not going to do anymore. So I will have to approach that topic at our next appt.

Thanks so much, mamas!

Gosh... I DO remember someone here saying there was a reason; but for my life I can't remember why. I think it was acknowledging only that you're foregoing a benefit without acknowledging that you, as a parent, have researched and weighed risks and decided not to do so. The form states that the ped told you about the benefits and not the risks (if I'm remembering right).

All of what I just wrote would not have convinced me of the harm in signing the waiver--so something's missing.

many of the refusal to vaccinate forms state (directly or indirectly) that you are admitting neglect by not allowing vaccinations. you would never want to sign your name to something stating your are intentially putting your dc in harms way.

Yeah, what ^^ said!

That is primarily what I remember, that most of the forms have some statement whereby you admit to knowingly causing harm to your child by not vaxing. That would set you up for getting your kids taken away from you in a worst-case scenario.

But that aside, I just feel like they can kiss my big ole white butt if they think I'm going to sign some form for trusting myself over them! Who the hell are they, anyway? : "Dr-I-have-a-medical-degree-so-you-must-treat-me-like-I'm-a-God" - I don't think so!! These are MY children and **I** will be responsible for deciding what is best for them, NOT some doc, NOT the govt, etc.

Frankly I think the form is basically another scaremongering attempt at getting people to just go ahead and get the vaxes. It's yet another attempt to exert their control...

The Church of Modern Medicine gives me the friggin CREEPS!!

From the AAP Refusal to Vaccinate form:

I know that failure to follow the recommendations about vaccination may endanger the health or life of my child and others with which my child might come into contact.
