Toilet not flushing, landlord not calling back!

Here's what it does... You flush, and the water from the tank adds to the dirty water in the bowl and makes one big bowl of dirty poop water... then over the next ten minutes or so the water slowly slowly slowly goes down, but leaves the poop and paper behind.

Can I fix this myself??? The landlord isn't calling me back and I have three children!

Help me.

Do you have a plunger, and have you tried it?

Call a plumber and have them send the bill to the landlord. Do you have a plunger? Have you tried plunging?

Bleck. Hate to say it but I second the plunger. Have fun! (not).

i DO have a plunger... BUT...

don't toilets usually flush the poop down the drain and THEN fill up with the nice clean water from the tank??? this seems weird to me.

Unless you have a reason to think there was something flushed that shouldn't have been, a plunger should take care of it. It might take some time, depending on how bad the clog is, but it should work.

This happens usually when something gets lodged in there, so water can pass by SLOWLY, but nothing solid can (thus the reason the water is still nasty). A plunger should make it all go through and put it back in fine working order.

Yes it normally would, but since you've got stuff stuck in there it isn't flowing freely...so the new water comes in before the old can drain away. You've got something blocking...something...in there...somewhere...hence the need for the plunger. If you're lucky you've got something lurking at the bend and the plunger will just shove it right on out of the way (you want the plunger to push DOWN not pull up in this instance).

Er...hop to...tell us what happens...

eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeew.

okay, it seems to be working now... it's just that the house i was living at before had a slow flush, and this was just even slower since we moved in (yesterday)... after the plunger it's like a normal good flushing toilet again.

my plunger is pretty yucky though. EW.

I'd say pull out the plunger. I hate to say it, but I knew a family where the 3 year old (still bottle fed, gross!) flushed a bottle down the toilet. The father had to pull the whole thing apart getting poop everywhere, eventually having to cut the bottle in half with a knife and pull it out, poop filled, in parts.

That's the point when I say call a plumber, and give the landload the bill, or deduct it from your rent.

And yet another good reason to breastfeed!!

A plunger should help unless it a hard object.

We use our often as our toilet drain must not be a sraight shot.

Works well, just gross.
