red foreskin

4 yo intact so is complaining about his penis hurting. Of course he was pinching it at the time so he may have "twiddled" himself sore or didn't get clean enough the last few days. the foreskin seems red, swollen- infected looking. I looked at stickies, but is there a link to home treatments? I will keep looking in archives for help.

For now I had him soak in a plain water bath and used diaper cream on it. It does not hurt him to urinate, only wear clothes and touch it. (so he tells me)

Something that others have recommended to be very soothing if it is just the foreskin and not a infection is very diluted tea tree oil. Breast milk is also a great soother with antibacterial properties.

If it dosnt clear up in 24-48 hours or looks worse between now and then I would take him and have a culture done. They just need to swab the very tip no retracting and see if anything grows.

Now i see i over reacted, but i had all sorts of fears of what would be pushed on him/me, including DH giving me an I told you so about circ's being needed.
