I have found the most amazing school

I am so excited about the school I have found for Jade that I just have to share. It is a Montessorri school on a beautiful campus. It is centered around a courtyard with lots and lots of foilage, with little kid size tables and benches hidden underneath trees. The primary class is this really long class, with one side being all sliding glass doors, and a playground outside there. The kids can go out and play anytime they choose. The class has two teachers for about 10 kids, and one speaks english all day, and the speaks spanish, so it is a bilingual atmosphere, and the kids really do learn Spanish! They do yoga once a week. The kids also, once a week, plan a lunch menu together, do the shopping, and make the lunch in this huge beautiful kitchen that I wish I had! It goes up through 6th grade, so Jade will be in the same school, with roughly the same very small group of kids, for 8 years! It is so gentle and childcentered and respectful. The kids all choose charities to get involved with, and that is a big part of what they do all year. It is also really centered on the arts. And the parents are super involved, it is like a coop. I knew it would be a good fit when I went to the global candlight peace vigil, and there were a group of young kids there, and they all were from this school. Then they had an open house this weekend, and the other parents were so nice, and we really had alot in common. Very ap, progressive bunch. As one mom told me, the school is run how she would homeschool her children. she said her kids have been going there since they were 2, and they are best friends with all the kids in their class, as they have all been together in this enviornment that stresses kindness and love for years, and that over the years, the parents have all formed a closeknit group as well. I just cannot say enough good things about this school, I am so excited!

You're soooo lucky to live in a place where you have access to such great schools. I live in West Virginia and we have nothing like that around here. Of course, we have virtually no crime and an extremely low cost of living too! I would absolutely love for my dd to have the opportunity to go to such a cool school though!

My daughter attends a wonderful Montessori school like you described. She started at 18 months. I can't say enough good things about it!
