I just started brewing my kombucha, but I noticed that my mushroom sank to the bottom and there seems to be a really really thin mushroom growing on top. Is this normal?

I read on one kombucha site that it might sink or float, either way is fine. I hope that's right, because mine sank, too! Looks just like you described. The scoby is sitting on the bottom, and there's a filiment reaching up to the top where there seems to be a new mushroom growing.

Ours have all sunk thus far (we're in the middle of brewing our second and third batches!). Totally normal
