Kefir Out of Water All Night! Killed?!

I was waiting until the water cooled for my kefir, and I put my son to sleep, woke up and kefir was still in the strainer! I immediately put them in sugar water. Are they dead? They were out all night in no liquid, at room temperature. Any hope?

I don't have water grains, but if they are anything like the milk grains, they are pretty resilient and hard to kill. Even if they were starved for a bit, they should revive although it make take awhile and a few changes of sugar water.
