Who sews clothes for their sons?

I'm just curious. It is so hard to find nice clothes for boys, I've been motivated to make each of my sons a pair of pants to add a little pizzaz to their wardrobe. One was a pair that I made with lime-green linen, I added orange linen roll-up cuffs to the bottom (no pattern used); the second was a pair of beachcombers I made with a Burda pattern out of a coarse striped cotton that looked a little like a Guatamalan fabric. I've only used fabric that I've been able to get dirt-cheap, as we know how long they'll last on 4-year-olds! Please let me know about your boy-clothes sewing projects!

I used to make a lot of clothes for my ds when he was small. We lived near the beach and he used to love the little swim trunks I made for him out of wild print cottons and knits--really simple style with elastic waist. He used to ask for me to "whip him up a new pair" regularly. I also loved to sew his Halloween costumes. As per his request, I made him up as Zorro, the Gay Blade one year when he was seven. He really wanted that ruffled tuxedo shirt. He is a grown man, now and the only thing I have made him lately is a long fake furry guitar strap, for his electric bass.

I just finished sewing DS 4 prs of fleece pants for the colder seasons. Next I'll be making him a wool l/s shirt for those nippy days. Wool undergarments are expensive and I happen to have A LOT of undyed, untreated wool interlock laying around. I think I'm going to full the interlock slightly and then whip him up 2 shirts. Hopefully it'll work I also have some flannel for making some pj bottoms.

I've made bandana type pants with real fabric, applique shirts, and tie dye shirts for my son.

I've done a ton of jammie pants & shorts and tee shirts. For Christmas I made them each 4 or 5 pairs of jammies. I have some great batik fabric to make funky button-down shirts, but we haven't had an occasion to need them yet.

I love to sew for my boys.

I hadn't sewn much for my boys, but now that I've discovered KS I'm starting to sew more for them. I just made my oldest son some beach shorts. I'm also going to make him some cords today...school starts friday and even though he'll be a big middle schooler he actually asked if I'd make him a few things.

I like the Burda patterns for boys. I've made a couple of pair of pants that are really cute. THey resemble the hannah andersson ones...for about a tenth the cost! I also make jammies, dress up clothes, tops, shorts, you name it.

I've sewn 'jumpers' and shorts. (Fast and easy)

Last year I made my oldest a 'Buzz Lightyear' costume out of microfleece (for warmth, we sometimes have snow or frost on halloween)...and it had bells and whistles (flashing lights sewn in and all that)...took me like 3 months to finish and I swore I'd never make something that intensive again (I hand stitched emblems and the buttoms and such to look more 'real'....)

He loved it and got lots of candy that year! Now his little brother uses it for a dress up play outfit and just loves it, so maybe it was worth it.

I've made 'superman' capes and polar fleece hats /hoods too (we get LOTS of snow). I want to make 'fleece socks' for them and some slip on house shoes too, as I just got the chloetoes pattern for kids and it should be perfect for that.

But I just found out baby number three, due in November is a GIRL..so well, I'm already 'sew happy' and excited to make cute dresses and such!

Where'd you get the Buzz pattern? I know DS would LOVE it...

I found the Buzz pattern on Ebay, as they didn't sell it anymore! Like, it's one of the most popular movies/toys in our house!

I started a 'blog' site, now if I can figure out how to upload a pic, I'll try to put pics of the costume up. It turned out so cute!

I'd try ebay still, as the overages are usually bought up by collectors and then sold for still decent prices.

I just made my youngest ds some pajamas (with some guidance from this forum ) and now my middle ds wants me to make him some "waterproof" (nylon) pants because his favorite pair is wearing out.

I also have made many costumes and capes, etc.

I'm also making a stuffed snake for my youngest ds

I've only made shorts and appliqued some fabric shapes to shirts. I am determined to make some unique things for his fall/winter wardrobe though.

For those interested in the Buzz Lightyear costume, I JUST saw one (the pattern I have) listed on Ebay. Here is the link:

http://cgi.ebay.com/New-Simplicity-B...QQcmdZViewItem

There is 4 days on the auction. Also, this pattern is NOT for novices in sewing, there are TONS of tiny bits and 'unique' attaching to do. It's very time consuming, but the results are fantastic when done!

I also made that buzz costume but I have to admit I did not sew all the little pieces on cause it was just too much work! Definetly a ton of sewing I used wonder under instead. I love to sew for my 4 year old boy but it is hard to find cute patterns. I have made him his halloween costume every year and some play stuff but we are just getting into real clothes. I only started sewing after I had him so now that I have some experiance I have been trying out some of the european patterns that were too difficult before

I sew for my boys!

Jammies; pants; button down shirts in loud fabric (their choice) I've made blankets (they like to cuddle with a blanket while watching tv, even the 15 yr old) and pencil cases. And anything else they come up with. I just finished a sword holder thingy (that you wear around your waist, cant think of what it would be called) in camo flannel for my ds' - 6 and 10. And now costume season is upon us, so I suppose I should get started.

I find that sewing for my boys is a bit more challenging. I have to be a bit more creative. Anybody else?

Ok, I have a place to put my photos on a webspace via my server...so this is a test.

I put the Buzz Lightyear costume pics in an 'album' and hope I am doing this right for you to see them. I hope it works!
