CLOTH DIAPERING - Worst Mommy Ever

So....any other mom's start out with all of this gung ho desire to cloth diaper and it just sort of ... fell through the cracks?

I have 18 fuzzibunz that have only been used once or twice and the rest of the time we have been using sposies. Anyone else using sposies? I am switching to seventh generation sposies. I just don't have the energy to do that much laundry.

Awww well. I am doing everything else I set out to do....

I was given a pack of sposies and decided to use them for the meconium poops, then her cord started getting all gunky so I bought one more package. Hopefully it'll fall off soon and I can put the hot pink fuzzi bunz on her! I just didn't have a desire to get my pretty fuzzi bunz all nasty with meconium poops. And it's a good thing, too, because the first 24 hours she had four of them! Then four more the next day!

Not a bad mommy, give yourself time, you can always start in a week or month! You already have them. I don't mind diaper laundry, no need to fold or put away. I just keep them in the laundry basket (unless I am really crazy and actually...put...things....away )

If you decide to sell them then I might be interested, I could use a few more!

You could try to sell them and then use the proceeds to buy some mediums. Mediums last a long, long time. My dd is 22 months and still in mediums (large when stuffed full at night). She started in cloth at 3 months. Fuzzi Bunz sell fast and if I had some extra funds right now, I'd be interested in some extras, too.

You're never a bad mommy for making the choices that keep you sane. I love my CD's too much, though, and so I've stopped cleaning the kitchen and bathing my children because I'd rather do the diaper laundry. I can't believe how much I am loving prefolds! And a snappi - what a great invention. Mmmmm....well, I'm off to wash more diapers

I totally planned to use cloth diapers, but I hadn't gotten around to ordering any yet when he came. (He came only a week before his due date, but I had been SO SURE that I was going to go past my due date, there were a lot of things I didn't have ready when he came!)

So we bought a package of disposables to hold us over for the first few days until I could order some cloth ones. Then the disposables were just so easy to use, and so cheap, and we were changing diapers so so often, we just decided we'd wait a bit and start with cloth once he got into a bigger size. So we're using disposables for now and I guess the plan is to buy some cloth ones eventually. We're still going through so many diapers each day...and the disposables work so well (no diaper rashes and only two leaky incidents so far), I have had the motivation to change. :/

With DS1 I, too swore I'd go over 40 weeks (born at 38.5) and although I did have dipes, did't have them set up. We used 1-2 packs of sposies (but cloth for pics) and then started cloth when his cord fell off at 11 days.

DS2 is 3 weeks old and starting (already) to pee too much for the Kissaluv 0's even though he still fits in the smallest snaps (about 9.5 lbs now).

Give yourself a little time, then after you get settled a little more try it again.

Hmmm...Sabbath, if you happen to have any neutral-ish smalls lying around that you are interested in getting rid of, please PM me!!! The amount of diaper we go through here each day is staggering! I did a load of 2 days worth yesterday: 6 med. FBs, 30 Kissaluvs and 8 covers! That was one full laundry basket!

SO not a bad mom for not using cloth! I admit although I love the cloth we do 7th generation sposies at night and sometimes I find it relieving when nighttime rolls around. Its so much easier to stick a tab than to go through the prefold and cover routine.

Its never too late to start though....and you might like it sometime in the future!

If you're a bad mommy then I am too. I don't use cloth diapers. I just can't do it. This baby is my fourth child and I work from home. I am so busy and overwhelmed that I just can't deal with the laundry that cd would require. I'm lucky to get our clothes clean. Also, the other three need attention and time with mommy. I figure if the choice is hanging out with the kids or washing diapers, he will do fine with sposies.

I am cloth diapering & was scared I wouldnt do it b4 baby came. Its easier than I expected ... my only problem is I dont have enough so I usually end up using sposies some.
I did start out w/ alot of different kinds of cloth & just dont like anything but the few AIOs I have & my FB. I just cant get the hang of prefolds.

Still trying to make some paypal $ to buy more! Did you sell your FBs??

No I didn't! Not all of them anyways, I still have some up for grabs. I will post the list of what colors I have left if anyone is interested. They are new, never been used. I sold the other ones for $10 each, with $5 for shipping. I will repost here in a bit.

We used sposies the first couple of weeks, too. I had some leftover from dd (who was in sposies until she was about 13 months), and then we decided to buy just one more pack, which I used until they were gone. I love my cloth though. We've only had one diaper blowout compared to about a million with the sposies dd was in. It's awesome. I am washing dipes every day though, because I have two in cloth, but dh helps and I don't fold/put away very often. Not having to worry about running out of sposies has been well worth it!

I would LOVE to use cloth diapers and have even discussed it with my husband to see if he thought it would work. Problem being, I work and go to school, so the extra work required for using cloth is a bit too much. I'd be willing to give it a shot, but my husband absolutely refuses to deal with cloth diapers and *I* refuse to be stuck with full-time diaper duty, so sposies it is.

You're not a bad mom for not cloth diapering. You'd be a bad mom if you DIDN'T change diapers - cloth, sposies... doesn't really matter. You have to do what works best with your lifestyle. If sposies help you keep your sanity and do the things you need to do, including spending time with your baby, by all means use them!

Im so glad you posted this Sabbath! You are not alone-I too am guilty of totally SUCKING at cloth diapers. For the first 2 weeks we did disposables and some cloth-but I couldnt fold them and was peed and/or pooped on everytime he went and I was holding him. Then I got new covers (after knitting 20 Ive decided I hate wool ) but still do disposables at night, otherwise I would have to get up and change him every 20 minutes-as soon as that cloth hits his bum he goes for it! This way I get at least an hour of sleep because he doesnt go as often. If it were completely up to me we would do all disp.-but dh thinks its too wasteful, and he may be right, but its so convenient and i love the seventh gen. dipes! they fit arlo so perfectly.
