Is anyone carrying their newborn in a sling? - Page 3

I've really liked my ring sling (sleepingbaby.net) and my Moby Wrap. The hotslings pouch DD1 loved but Eliana just looks so squished and uncomfy in the cradle hold...it'll be better when she's big enough to do tummy to tummy or the hip carry because it's GREAT for that. My only problem is that she likes to be held belly to belly but she can't hold her head up, but when I pull the fabric around to support it, she cranes her neck out of it like she wants to see. Poor thing has interests beyond her abilities. So it really only frees up one hand because i'm still crading her head, but one hand is way better than none!

Yeppers! We put her in a pouches from the very beginning, er, the very very beginning and she loved it! Now, only during the extremely random day nap or when out and about or walking. Other than that, she gets upset when I try to put her in there awake to hang out so I can do things around the house with 2 hands.

I use my slingset (LOVE it) and my KKAFP (my first Love) everyday. I also use the moby wrap often but DH will usually take one boy in the moby. He prefers it to his slingset. The only bummer with slinging twins is one gets happy and the other one wants to nurse, ugh! I really have to figure out how to use the MT on my back. The boys are up to 13 and 13.5 LBS now and I just had both in the moby while at the hands on museum, they are somewhat outgrowing that option but aren't ready yet for the hip position. I look forward to that!

I can't seem to figure out the OTSBH -- it seems to have much less material for the "hammock" than shown in the video, and when I put dd (7 weeks) in there in the sleeping position (head away from rings) her head is out and very visible, it almost feels like I have too much material in front and too little in the back.. Also I am having trouble with adjusting the tail through he rings, it does not slide easily. Am I doing something wrong? I have a medium and am 5'4" and about 150 lbs.

I am about to get a hotsling and try that.

Yup, we use our Maya Wrap ring sling nearly every day-- grocery shopping, afternoon walks, visiting friends, restaurants, the mall-- everywhere! Unfortunately, I think that she actually got heat rash on her abdomen from spending too long against my chest in the Maya. But that's gone now, and it's getting cooler. Anybody could get heat rash in September in Georgia!

We tried a Lucky Baby pouch and a Moby, but neither of them appealed to either of us, and i'll probably put them up in the Trading Post soon. I also have a WAHM mei tai that we'll try when she gets a little more head control. Until then, thank goodness for my Maya! Easy to nurse in, comfortable, keeps baby happy and keeps strangers from putting their grubby paws on my kid!

Upright and belly to belly, with her feet tucked in if she's sleeping and dangling out if she's awake and active. She can't stand to be in sideways-- she just hates reclining-- it's straight up and down or flat on her back with this chick. She seems to enjoy it, and it works well for us, but I did not enjoy my two days of OMIGAHBABYRASH!!, you know?
