CRAFTY MAMAs - I need your help - PLEASE? :)

I am planning a wedding - a validation ceremony, actually (we were never married in the church) for this December.

It was originally going to be a traditional wedding-ish thing, but we'd like it to be more about who WE are NOW - not who a typical American Bride and Groom are.

So, we want it as crunchy as we can (but conservative enough for the church- Catholics require you marry inside the church).

I think it is going to me a small evening ceremony and we'd like to incorporate the kids in the ceremony. If all goes as planned, I'll be around 5-6 months pregnant, too.

But, I'd like your help. Mothering is SO who I am today - I want to incorporate some of MDC into the ceremony. I don't really have any friends IRL - just my Mothering mamas, and I wish you could all come!!! I was thinking that some of you crafty mamas could come up with something to make for the day - then, at least you'd be here in spirit!

If you have an idea that's cost prohibitive for you, but you'd like to contribute () I could probably pay for the supplies.

Paper? Candles? Dried floral headbands? beads? anything?

Thank you!

I know our very own Chanley (moderator of Diggin in the Earth) has done soaps for weddings as gifts from the bride to her friends family etc.
She has a pic of one here

http://beantreesoap.com/wholesale.html

she used a vegetable glycerin soap and put little rings inside the clear/red soap!

She has a ton of great natural mama - crunchy scents like Happy Hippie and Groovy Gardener.
You should contact her

as for incorporating into the ceramony...hmm....I will have to think on that one!

It all sounds great!

I've been meaning to send you a photo of my dd in the adorable outfit you made for her -- it's sitting on my camera so I just have to do some fiddling and get it sent... I'm just being lazy...

I'll think about it... It's in December, though... right? I could probably procure some decorations for the girls to wear, either in their hair or on their bodies... what are you thinking about?

Happy wedding! It sounds lovely!

Aww - thanks, "jj"

After a lot of thought, I think I'm going to wear something ivory - but low-key (like a peasant dress or peasant top with matching gauzey dress pants) and I hope to have some type of gold cording on the top that ties beneath the - uh - ( ) ( )s

So, I'm not sure what to put the kids in. I think a simple ivory dress would be appropriate for them - maybe even one of those cute balloony pants sets for the baby?

I'm thinking of decorating in white poinsettias wrapped in gold tissue or lame and evergreens - so people can take home the decorations, kwim?

I want it to be comfy and family-oriented, but pretty and seasonal.

Thanks!!!!!! (And thanks for the info on the soap, LaLa - that would be a great SHOWER gift :LOL)
