I'm looking to put a good set of wooden blocks on my registry.
Does anyone have any recommendations?
Thank you

We bought a great set from a website called Grand River Toys ( I don't know if that is a problem). It is Canadian but the blocks are great quality. In fact we were visitng friends this weekend and I commented that their blocks looked like ours and my friend told me that they are thirty years old and come from Grand River Toys. Her father even used them for door stops and they still look great.

Sounds good, i'll go look them up.

My DH has a big concern regarding Blocks. I hope you can shed some light.
He sees them as missels and weapons, things to be thrown rather then fabulous imaginative play. What is your experience with thrown blocks etc..?
thank you

Something that gets passed around in DH's family is this great set of Melissa and Doug cardboard bricks. They are big enough to make towers and forts out of, and they are super durable, but they are light enough that they wouldn't really hurt anyone or do any damage.

The kids love them. Heck, DH loves them. They've been passed on to us, and now that I know where to buy them, I might just get some more.....

I bought some Uncle Goose alphabet blocks that came in a little wagon. They are very nice, and larger than most others sets i've seen (1.75 inches). You can also get them in a canvas bag or just the blocks themselves...

This place had the best price when I bought them a few weeks ago... shipping was free for over $30. (I'm not affiliated with them)

There are some nice HABA blocks on that site I have my eye on...
