What I did today to get better...

Thread Starter
Long post- sorry!

I have an almost 2.5 yr old and an alomst 8 mos old nursling and have been struggling with what I believe to be PPD since the wee one was born (traumatically). Since then I have been working with Lois Freedman (who wrote Birth as a Healing Experience) and trying to get better on my own. Yesterday I broke down and saw the doc. I got two scrips- one for clonazapem (anxiety attacks around the imminent birth of my sister's baby at the same hospital I delivered) and one for a low dose of Prozac.

I want to do more things naturally and explore more options but have a hard time keeping up with things. It is a function of the depression I think and the usual mommy-ness of life.
So here is my idea:
I will post to this thread all the things I did today on the road to wellness as it were and any noticeable changes in disposition. I am looking for some support from others in similar situations to mine. Mostly just more ideas of what other people are doing and a way to keep mindful of my efforts.
Anybody else interested?

Today I took:
2 gms of fish oil
calcium/magnesium
Super B Vitamin
Prenatal
Evening Primrose Oil
Prozac

I also drank 1 less caffeinated beverage than usual and had more water.
I posted here and read other people's posts for support and ideas.
I saw Lois Freedman for counseling.

I feel like crap but am trying to be hopeful today. I am trying to remember why I am doing this am really hoping I made the right choice yesterday.

Thanks for reading this far!

Cool! I really wish I could figure out how to do more for myself. I noticed that PSI has a page now with suggestions for Health & Social Support.

I also have noticed an improvement in my anxiety since religiously taking my CLO & FO, but I think what really helped is the cal/mag & good B-complex. Pantothenic acid (a B vitamin) is supposed to be key to handling stress.

I take fish oil, b6, b12, prenatal, cal/mag and feel like it's helping. I'm definitely not 100%, but I'm feeling better.

Pantothenic acid is B-5, you might consider a B-complex. Really, look up pantothenic acid, it helps the nerves.
