Dh has poor morphology 5% - has anyone ever conceived with numbers that bad? Also to add some fun to the mix - apparently after my cs the doc put my uterus back ON TOP OF one of my ovaries so it is twisted behind my uterus. So our odds are not looking good. I am hoping someone here has some inspiration. Also - with all the supplements have nay of your dhs morph rates changed?
Thanks

I'm so sorry you're struggling so much! It's a very very tough thing to deal with!

My husband had only 1% normal morphology when we had a semen analysis done by our RE after 8 cycles of trying without success - after charting, using OPK's, perfect timing, etc. We were fairly certain that we'd have to do IUI at LEAST and perhaps even IVF with ICSI, but my RE wanted to finish up the testing and do an HSG first to see if it would help clear the path. Apparently it did because I got pregnant during the HSG cycle.

My RE also had my husband take folic acid, vitamin B complex, and zinc to help with the morphology issues. We didn't have another SA done to see if they made a difference because I had already gotten pregnant.

If your partner's count is normal and there are a good number of forward moving sperm, you CAN get pregnant even with poor morphology. It only takes one sperm to reach the mark.

Have they done any ultrasound monitoring to see if you're ovulating normally?

We will be doing fsh and us monitoring to check on cd3ish. But for 12 months we have been trying - 9 months of which were trying hard with opks. For the last 6 months i have been part of a tudy where they do a urine test DAILY to let you kow exactly when to BD and still nothing. I have these perfect cycles - lp is always 12 days. That is why we did further testing since we could not understand what happened. My first pg i had a normal pg - got pg first month trying and had my dd via cs. 2nd pg ended at 12 weeks - unknnown reason for the mc.

I am just : :

Though i have heard MANY women get pg after the HSG - like it sorta clears out the pipes or something

I guess that's what happened with us.

My husband and I were about ready to throw in the towel and start considering IUI or saving for adoption or IVF when we decided to continue with testing. It took us 2.5 years to conceive our first, but we lost the baby at 9.5 weeks. When we started trying again, we tried the first month without using OPKs or charting. After that, we tried everything we could possibly think of before consulting with the RE who determined that due to history, there was likely an underlying issue preventing us from conceiving within a normal timeframe.

I don't know if it was the HSG or if we just got lucky that cycle, but if it WAS the HSG, perhaps it was due to clearing a minor blockage in my tubes - or perhaps my hubby's sperm just go into overdrive during the month of March as that is when we conceived both times.

I wish you all the best!

My dh has pretty poor morphology (I think 4% was on the high end of the range of his tests), and no, supplements did not seem to help, but I know they do for a lot of people. As near as we can figure with dh, the problem is that his sperm lacks the head coating to allow it to penetrate an egg, and, frankly, I am not sure there is a supplement for that.

We did conceive our dd through IVF/ICSI, and are just a few weeks from an FET to hopefully give her a sibling. Once our clinic got ahold of the normal sperm from dh's sample, we had no problem with fertilization, and had some lovely embies to transfer and freeze.

All the best to you - hoping you find some answers soon that are right for you.

My DH had 4% morphology on the first S.A. and 5% on the second. But, he had normal sperm count (something like 12 million), so the doctor (we went to a fertility specialist after TTC for about a year) said it was fine. I also have a short luteal phase. We conceived after 2 IUI's with clomid and progesterone suppositories. It took us 17 months to conceive our DD, who's now 9 months old.
