emergency Felt Board question

well, it's an emergency to me...Hello, ladies. I have never posted in this part of MDC before, but I have a felt board question..

I need to make a wallhanging for Sunday School that I want to leave hanging up all year. It's called the Circle of the Christian Year, and there are 52 little coloured blocks around the outside and one clock hand in the middle ( it helps the children tell where we are in the church calender, as in Christmas and Easter and so on) There's a catalogue I can buy on from, but I'd like to make it and save $$$. In the catalogue it looks as though it's just pieces of felt sticking to a felt backing.

But surely they would start to fall off eventually? People use the hall during the week and so on. Doors open and close and create drafts. I need to attach all those little blocks with velcro or something, right? (Unfortunately they need to be able to move)

I'd really appreciate any advice!

This is for Children's Worship and Wonder program? We have the same thing at our church. You can glue the felt pieces with just about any adhesive. A glue gun would go quickly, especially if you had an extra set of hands. One person can glue the squares and another places them.

Thank you, Swampwitch. Unfortunately, the squares really need to be able to move, because Easter moves every year....I ended up cutting a ring out of the top sheet, and making a sort of a channel for the felt blocks to fit into. I hope it will work. When I see them all fluttering out, I'll reach for the glue gun.

Oh! I see what you mean. On our church year calendar the hand moves and the squares stay in place.

What about backing each of the pieces that needs to move with velcro?

My ds has a felt board in his room with labels for all of his activities stuck to it. I just laminated those labels and put a small dot of velcro on the back of each one. They stay put until he moves them off.
