Wipe Solution Recipes

What are some good wipe soloution recipes? Also, are baby washcloths good to use for wipes? I have more washcloths than I need and would like to put them to good use!

I fill a spray bottle with water and add some Burts Bees baby oil and a few drops of tea tree oil. Seems to work well but I'm always looking for new ideas.

i use a spray bottle i got at the $store. i use
2tbsp burts bees apricot oil.
2tbsp white distilled vinegar
5 drops tto
5 drops lavender EO
5 drops GSE
2tbsp(or more) aloe vera herbal blend from Natures life. (it has aloe, comfrey,chamomile,cucumber,carbomer, sodium PCA, allantoin, etc)
and water.
i shake the bottle before spraying it on the bum or the wipes.

and i use flannel wipes, but i know alot of people who use terry wipes and they like them. i am just a flannel gal.

Here's my wipe recipe. It's really complicated. You might want to go get a pen. Ok.

Take a waterproof box with a lid (empty disposable wipe box, tupperware, whatever).

Fill it with water.

Throw in baby washcloths or other small pieces of fabric.

Ta-da. You are ready to do some butt wiping.

Keep it simple, sister!

Could you use Weleda oil instead of the Burt's Bees? What does GSE stand for?

What does GSE stand for?

GSE is grapefruit seed extract, its great for yeastie beasies.

Right now I am using a 50/50 mix of vinegar and water w/ a squirt of baby shampoo and about 15 drops of GSE in an empty wipes container which I dip the wipes in. I am only doing this because we have a HORRID yeast rash right now, it STINKS to high heaven. Normally my complex solution is plain water + a squirt of baby shampoo. After the yeast battle is gone I will be doing plain water + baby shampoo + GSE as a prevention. I like the dry wipes and container of water just because I can control how moist I get them.

The wipes I made from a yard of fabric I got from the scraps bin for something like 50 cents. I just surged two together soft sides out, they are flannel I think. I have heard of people cutting up old receiving blankets too, buying baby washcloths at the dollar store, or using old rags. I am sure whatever you have works.

Indeed! Mine's basically that, too. Sometimes, if I get a little crazy, I add a few drops of TTO or a squirt or two of baby wash!

Really, the only reason I'd do the TTO is just because it also helps the smell in the diaper pail!

Here's mine:

I put a squirt of Dr. Bronner's, a few drops TTO and a few drops lavender in a loaf pan I keep next my sink. Fill with hot water, soak wipes, wring them out, and put them in my wipes warmer.

To those who use soap on their wipes - How does that work for you? I don't use soap because I think of it as something that needs to be rinsed away, but maybe not? Do you not rinse it off?

I only use about one pump of baby soap in a water bottle. (I just keep a regular sized water bottle--like Aquafina--next to my wipes case.) It seems like such a small amount that I've never worried about it. DS hasn't had any sort of reaction to anything in the wipes solution (even if I add the soap squirt or TTO). It's certainly not enough soap to make bubbles on his bottom!!

I decided just to use distilled water with a drop or two of TTO. I bought a mini spray bottle for the diaper bag for only 50 cents. I like all the qualities that TTO has and so far for us it works. I was hesitant to add too many ingredients if the need wasn't there. Glycerin can cause repelling problems with fleece and quite a few wipes solutions use a mild glycerine soap as one of the ingredients and I just don't want to chance it KWIM?

I tried that "no measure" one on the site listed above, minus the baby oil, and it seems to work great! I did water, a squirt or squirt and a half of baby wash, and a few drops of TTO in a spray bottle I got at Dollar Tree. I just started using cloth wipes this weekend and so far it's pretty cool.
