Baby Aria Genevieve has arrived!

Hello mamas!
Aria Genevieve was born yesterday afternoon at 3:39pm. Stats are 7 lbs even, 19 3/4 inches.
My labor started with contractions that woke me around 5 which I ignored till 6 when I timed them at 2 minutes apart...weird. I sent my hubby to bed thinking we could be laboring well into the middle of the night and he would need his sleep since he works nights and had just gotten home. By 8 I was very uncomfortable and contractions were SO close that I called my mw who came over and hung out a while. At 10:30 she said she was thinking of going home and would I mind if she checked me. I was about 1 cm. Grrrr. So she left and my sister came over to hang for a bit. By 11:30 the contractions were so intense I woke my husband with all my noise. We called the mw back. Contractions were anywhere from 2 min - 20 seconds or less apart. No breaks at all. She asked to check me again at 12:30 and I was at 5cm. I wasn't even sure I was in active labor but I was in HELL if not cause it was so powerful! When I asked if I was even in active labor everyone laughed at me and assured me I was so that made me feel better. I got in the tub at about 1 pm and the other mw and apprentice arrived sortly thereafter.
Within 45 min I was pushing. My mw asked me what would happen if I DIDN'T push with the contractions but I said I couldn't help it- it was just happening.
I was SOOOO loud, it was funny in retrospect. I think I scared myself with the noises I had. I sounded like a lion roaring! I have never been so out of myself or so out of control, it was scary for me since I am a bit controlling.
Anyways, finally one of the other mws suggested I move from hands and knees to reclining to help her move out and DH got in the tub with me. I leaned on him and she was born a few contractions later. I didn't think it was possible. But the second it was over it was like it had never happened. She was here and everything else was gone. Sweet girl cried the second we lifted her from the water so I didn't even have time to worry if she was ok. The bag of waters broke as she was born and didn't even detach till after she was born. Sign of a born leader they say. ;-)
I can't exactly say it was a peaceful birth with all my noise but it was intense and awesome and we both did it together (actually all three of us). It was a perfect birth.
I did tear a bit and that wasn't so perfect- being stitched without novacaine but I am barely even sore now, just tired and weak feeling. Aria is nursing like a champ and so happy and calm. Nursing hurts like heck but I've heard that is to be expected at first so I am ok with it for now.
All is WONDERFUL and I wish the same to all of you awaiting your time.
Good luck girls. Our bodies ROCK and you can do it!!!

Awe, Kimberley I'm SO HAPPY for you!!!! YOU DID IT!!!! So glad it was worth the wait (how many days after her "due date" was she born?). I was hoping that getting in the bath would do the same trick for me, but it wasn't to be

stitched without novacaine?! Why not?! YOUCH!

I totally agree about the Lansinoh... absolutely saved me. I will be giving a tube of it at every baby shower I attend in the future!!!

Thanks ladies! Jen, I agree on the Lanisol as a gift- what an awesome resource!
She wound up being 9 days late but made up for it by coming out so fast once she made her mind up.
I hope once my milk comes in I will be around more. As of now she is attached like 22 hours out of the day and I can't bear to put her down so I can't sleep. Anyways, that is why I am not around for a few days. Hope you ladies are all doing WONDERFUL and can't wait to hear about the rest of you still waiting...any day now!!

Congrats Summer! I can totally relate to the out of control noises...isn't it weird, in retrospect, to know you made those sounds?
I wasn't embarrassed, but more impressed and surprised at what an animal I was!

Anyway, good luck with the first few days of breastfeeding, (yay for lansinoh!) and enjoy your beautiful baby girl!!
