Inspiring!

What inspires you to paint?

For me, if I see a gorgeous sunset or an amazing cresent moon in the sky (last night!), I want to pick up a paint brush.
Also love the shape of some trees. Makes me want to capture the lines and light.

To be honest, I'm afraid of trying to paint again. It's been way too long.

I'm looking for the REAL inspiration that makes it impossible for me NOT to paint.

What about you? What do you find inspiring?

Man you saw that moon? It was great wasn't it?

I second the tree thing. We have tons of orchards where I live. Music always gets me going. I don't even have to hear the words, just music, mostly rock.

Feeling inspires me to paint. Any intense or passionate feeling. It really comes through in my work.

I find beauty in joy. I find beauty in sadness and pain. I find beauty in anger. I find beauty in love. I paint what I feel.

depressing, but hurt.

the general feeling. hurt for others, hurt for our earth, hurt for innocence being stolen.

Painting is the way I get it out, but makes for sad work.

looking at other artist's work is inspiring. it's great to look at work that i respect and feel moved by either by its technique, content, or feel.

What a great post! I, too, am getting back into painting, and just got some water-based oils so that I can paint near my DS and not worry. I just finished up the drawing that I started over a year ago in a large self-portrait (lots of story-telling/symbolism in it). I am scared, too, that i will not remember how to paint! I think it does come from a deep place that is always there, if we are still enough (or moving enough) for us to hear it/listen to it... For me, anything in nature moves me, especially the play of light and color that is so incredibly rich and intense in nature. I often think of how I wish I could transform that depth of color into a tube of paint, etc. I related to those of you who shared that depth of feeling inspires you to create. That is so true for me, too, and is crucial for me to have emotion in my work, even if it is a pic of acorns, etc!
Thanks for sharing your thoughts, everyone! Happy creating to you in this beautiful time of year... Michelle
