Angelo has marks on three of his teeth. The dentist said it was from an illness or fever while teeth were under gums.

What can I do now? I am concerned that his enamal may be weak or something. Plus two of them have divits. They dentist said they are not cavities but to clean them carefully.

I am also worried about his adult teeth. Dentist said they would be fine.....but what if they are not???

the dentist told us the pits my son had were from a fever i had while i was pregnant. we were told to watch the spots carefully. we did and they decayed in like a little over a month. once the dentist would finally see us again it was decided he would need to crown two teeth and fill four teeth. once they went in to do the procedure we were told his enamel was so bad that when they tried to fill the teeth they started to flake apart. all teeth were crowned...our dentist tried to push flouride on us but we are looking into other alternatives. ive read several articles online as well as the curing cavities through nutrition forum and we are trying Cod Liver Oil supplements as well as getting lots of vitamin D from other sources...calcarea phos. tablets twice a day..toothsoap as opposed to toothpaste (glycerin in toothpaste prevent remineralization of teeth)...he also likes to drink tea...it has fluoride in it naturally. i dont like for him to get too much tea but since his grandmother drinks it and he always wants hers we let him. check out the thread i meantioned it is long but there is good information also this article

just another perspective, although it sounds like you may want to be a little more aggressive than i was.
my son had heart surgery when he was 2 and was on heart medication for awhile, which discolored his front 2 teeth. his adult teeth have come in fine and the baby teeth never gave us any problem.
good luck...hope you find answers .

I had two ugly yellow spots on my two front teeth. (permanent teeth) I was told that it was from a fever in early childhood. They bleached away with a few treatments. That was in 1989. It was called Vital bleaching. Those spots never came back. All of my teeth are covered in little white spots, I took vitamins with flouride as a child. I had all of my teeth bleached, and then they weren't as noticable. The enamil (sp?) came off of my teeth when I had my braces removed in 1996. So I have a white (composite?) filling in every tooth except for 2. My teeth look ok, and look great when I have them bleached, but I do not consider them to be very healthy.

I was freaking thinking something was wrong with his emanel as we have a friend that was born with almost no enamel on any of her teeth. She has had tons of dental work that costs thousands of dollars.

The reason why fevers can cause this is that fevers rapidly deplete vitamin A from the body. And if you are already deficient and don't have good liver stores and lots of vit. A in your diet ... a fever is going to really do some damage.

Vit. A is essential for strong bones and ability to absorb minerals from diet. That is why high vitamin cod liver oil has been shown to help remineralize teeth.
