Sad my kid starts school tomorrow

This is one those posts that doesn't fit well anywhere. My seven-year-old Michael starts up second grade tomorrow and it makes me sad. We used to homeschool and I wish we still did. He has special needs we are just starting to figure out, and he really does do better in school. But it makes me so sad I can't keep him home. DH says we need to give second grade a shot and then if we need to we can bring him back home.

I'm just looking for some tea and sympathy I suppose.

I know just how you feel

My special needs older ds is in 4th grade this year, and like yours, just does better with the routine of school. Also, his OT is on staff there and the max class size is 12 for his grade. He gets loads of individual attention and it's a super-nurturing environment that he and I both love, but still..... I am really happy with this new school, but sometimes I miss having him here.

Just remind yourself you're doing what's best for your child. That's what I do.

I go through this every year...I hate it when my kids go back to school! I enjoy our summers together so much and I miss them when they are gone. Add that to the shock of the alarm clock going off at 5:45 a.m. ( I have a high schooler, and middle schooler and a 4th grader) and I really hate it! The kids all love school and all of their school-year activities...I'm the only one down in the dumps this week. I'm usually over it within a week. I've got my tea and you have my sympathy.

*HUGS* This actually has made me feel a whole lot better. He was so excited this morning. He starts the gifted program AND OT this year, as well as a bunch of evaluations so we can figure out what's going on, so he's going to have a lot on his little plate. I'm trying to be positive and not add to his stress. You all are wonderful.

AM...you can feel good knowing you are doing what's best for him right now. You can still take it year by year.....
