What are some good natural products for shampoo and soap that can be used for a newborn and are not too expensive? (We dont have trader joes, whole foods...)
Thanks!

You really don't need any products for a newborn, most of the time. I still don't use soap on my 3 year old unless she's really dirty - most of the time water and a washcloth get everything off.

If you end up needing to use oil for cradle cap you may be able to use a baking soda wash - I'm not sure, I've never done it on a baby. Maybe a tsp or less of bs in a cup of water? Gently scrub then rinse well. Hopefully someone else will have some thoughts on that.

Otherwise plain water ought to do you. Babies don't, normally, get that dirty.

You can try a drop or so of lavender oil in the water if it's scent you're going for.

I agree, warm water and a wash cloth are pretty much all you need for a newborn. Even as a toddler, my ds cleaned up easily with plain water. We ended up tossing all our baby bath products since they irritated ds's skin anyhow, and never missed them!
