Hi there!

Jack has some good days where he hops out of the car with his teacher at carpool, but more of them are teary days. The teachers say that he stops crying before he gets to the classroom and he always says he had a good day when I pick him up.

I think the issue with Jack is that he's a bit shy and he gets a little nervous around all of the kids in the class. He's never been around so many kids at once. The directress now has Jack doing some work with a different child each day so that Jack will get to know the kids better on a one-on-one level.

We recently went to a playdate with his class and the kids were so sweet to him. A couple of the girls came over to ask him to dig a hole since (they said) he's the best hole digger. A couple boys were playing and said "Come on, Jack, come chase us!" He told me the other day that one of the big kids helped him put his shoes on. I love the way these kids interact. The bigger kids really look out for the little ones.

I think he's an introvert like his parents and he gets nervous just anticipating school. And I think his anticipation is way worse than the reality.

We've seen so many positive changes in just a few weeks, and though Jack doesn't always WANT to go in the morning, I know from his demeanor that he's happier having been there.

I love our school. I trust the teachers. The tuition is expensive, but nothing has been more worth it that I can recall. I would move into a less expensive house to keep him at this school as long as we can.

I'm hoping that Jack will have fewer teary mornings, but as an introvert myself, I think sometimes you have to get past the fear to get to the good stuff.

Hope everyone else with the same situation is doing better...

Liz
