any half day homeschool/half public school experience?

Our public school system has a half day homeschool program. You go half day to school in a multi age classroom. The rest of the time you work with your child on various projects and interests, some of your own and others school directed. Has anyone participated in such a program? How was your experience?

I know die-hard homeschoolers do not like it for many reasons, but I think it may be a good fit for my oldest. I don't want to go over the negatives unless you have directly experienced them in such a program. Thanks!

No information for you but it sounds wonderful. It would be absolutely perfect for us! Sadly nothing like that available around here. Is it a Charter school or a regular ps?

Thi sis what I do with my 3 yo ds daycare and what I hope to continue with public school. I am hoping to just negotiate a 3 day week with the principal an dteacher once he starts school. I want him to go to the immersion school by our house to learn french, plus I want to do school/work outside the home so i am hoping for some schoolin but full time seems crazy to me. I asked my MIL who teaches grade 3, she said she doesn't know of anyone who does it, but lots of the behavior problem or disability kids go part time and work with resource people part time so she said she doesn't see why it couldnt be done.......She said it woul dbe up to the individual administration. We live in canada.

It's part of the public schools and has been since the 80s, I believe. Or at least early 90s. Here's their website:

The main concerns most people have is that the program is more like half day school/half day homework (rather than homeschool). It's a lot of work for parents and kids. And it's really not for some. But the families I know that stay in it, LOVE It.

We don't have that here, but it sounds awesome.

I really like the typical preschool schedule where they get to do some class time, but have more time at home than with a traditional school schedule to go off in their own direction.
