Can it get any more embarrasing than this???

My laparoscopy is on Friday and I'm sooo ready to get it over with. However, there's a slight problem: my period is officially 4-5 days late. I don't chart (yet) so it could just be late ovulation or a messed up cycle. I am being seen at a birth center for my possible endo and so I called the nurse and asked her what to do. (I've taken 5 HPTs and all have turned out negative, but my period has never been this late. I don't "feel" pregnant and I highly doubt I am, but I want to be sure.)

The nurse told me to go into the base medical clinic and ask for a qualitative test. We live on a small military base, so I do know a lot of people. I walk into the reception area and look around-all strangers, so that's good. I go to the front desk and (in a normal voice) explain my plight. They agree to do the test and I turn around and one of my students (I work in a kindergarten classroom) and her mom are standing right behind me!

I turn about five shades of red and manage a cheerful "hi" before racing back to the lab.

Still waiting for results...

That's a little embarrasing. I'm a teacher too and can imagine. Although, I tell so many people my business that it might not be a surprise. I shouldn't and I'm sure I'll regret it someday. I'm just an open book.

Your period could be late from the endo. I started having really irregular periods right before and after surgery. My cycles got longer and longer. Were you trying this cycle to get pg? I wasn't sure. Either way, I hope it works out the way you want.

I'm guessing my period is probably late because I've been a little worried about the procedure tomorrow. Or it could be because of the endo, guess we'll find out.

Nope, we weren't trying...I really want to have the laparoscopy done and know what's going on before we do. I think September will be the first month we officially start trying.

Good luck with both...the lap and TTC! The lap isn't too bad. Just make sure if you wake up with a lot of pain to tell the nurses. They'll take care of it and in about 5 seconds it will be gone!

Well, the test came back negative, just like I thought. I was pretty sure I wasn't pregnant, but I was still holding out hope for a miracle.

Good news is that the laparoscopy WILL happen tomorrow and hopefully I'll get some sort of answer. A nurse called today and asked me a zillion medical history questions. I asked her about the pain and naseau meds (I've been really sick from the anesthesia before) and she said it would be no problem.

Please cross your fingers for some sort of answer!

Hoping that something easily fixable is uncovered and fixed tomorrow, and you are pg in no time!
