I wanna learn how to knit!

Can anyone recommend a good instructional book/DVD/whatever on how to knit?

Check out knittinghelp.com I bought several instructional books (including the Stitch'n'bitch books by Debbie Stoller), but it didn't really click until I found this website - it has videos, and it is totally free! Looking at pictures just wasn't doing it for me, I kept getting lost. The videos include everything you need to know to start off. I liked being able to slow them down and play them over and over again.

That said, the Stitch'n'bitch books are still fun, as well.

For sure knittinghelp.com. Also a bunch of yarn stores will usually teach you even if they don't have a class. I know that the 3 in my area will, you just need to call them. I'm visual so that helped me. Also I know a girl that posted an ad on craigslist and just got a group together to learn and teach each other.
I initally learned from the little booklets you see at the craft dept of stores that say "learn to knit" they were suprisingly helpful and inexpensive.

I learned to knit from the Yarn Girls' Guide to Simple Knits. Easy to follow instructions, cute patterns for when you're ready. These ladies also have a book of patterns for babies/toddlers and for bigger kids. None of the patterns looked too complicated to me--just right for a knitter starting out.

I am on the web ALL the time, but I find a book much more enjoyable and relaxing. I use Vogue Knitting (I think that is the name, but it is put out my Vogue all the same) - it is like a knitting bible. I like to sit with DH, watching TV< with the book in my lap. (It is big enough to rest there comfortably.) The instructions are really easy to follow, and it covers all the very basic stuff, to much more complicated - all stuff I think you can do if you just follow the step-by-steps. Enjoy!
