Could you confuse semen with mucus?

I am currently 37 weeks and have been feeling some stretching in my cervix for several days. We had sex this afternoon, about 5 hours ago, and now i'm not sure if it's mucus i'm seeing when i wipe or semen.

Looks more like mucus to me, but as this is my first pregnancy i have nothing to compare it to. Do you think i could be confusing the two? Looks like mucus when you are about to ovulate, but not as thick and stringy.

the mucus plug is kinda chunky....almost like a medium soft booger.

maybe both?

any pinkish tinge to it? that would definitely be a sign that some tiny capillaries on the cervix broke while it was stretching and opening. pinkish tinge is normal, by the way.

sex is good for cervical priming.

About two weeks ago i lost a chunk, which was like a really big booger with some blood in it. Nothing since then until today though. maybe it is a little of both.

Am i the only one who the stretching, crampy feeling in my cervix makes me horny? I guess it is normal though, since the semen will help to soften the cervix. I just think so many people don't listen to these urges.
My husband was told when i was 4 months that he was disgusting for having sex with me. Do you know how nasty we'd both be if we'd gone that long without sex!!!!!!

What! Have sex with a pg woman! : How dare he!

If my Dh did not have sex with me when I was pg, we would hardly ever have sex! I seem to ALWAYS be pg!

Oh, I forgot about the OP question.

The difference that I have found between semin and CM is consistancy. Semin always seems more watery and CM is thicker. Not sure if that helped at all, but perhaps you are very close! (I hope that is a good thing for you)

Ditto the booger comparison. My plug was always thicker and booger-like.

No, you are not. It makes me very horny.I'm at 42 weeks and I'm huge, sex is extremely uncomfrotable. I really thought that nothing could make sex worth it. Then my Cervix started doing stuff, and that little baby head pressed up against it....and wow....I've been horny for a week!! People keep telling me to try sex to start labor, but I really don't see how I could be having it any more often!!!

I agree with PP Semen tends to be more watery, and the mucous tends to be thicker and kind of stretchy.

Semen is alot like your fertile mucus - clear, really stretchy (several inches possibly), really slippery. I usually have semen coming out for about 3 days post-sex (I use a CM-only version of NFP when not pregnant, so I check this stuff all the time).

I lost my mucus plug in the toilet during labor, so didn't really get to see it up close (just saw the blood in the toilet - I was in transition), but I've always heard the booger descriptions.

I lost a chunk of my mucus plug this morning. This is also my first pregnancy.

Until I wiped and saw that plug, I was confused about whether I'd notice anything or not.

You'll know. I actually shrugged and said to myself "Well, I couldn't mistake that one!"
