Tummy,

I will end up with more leaves than I will know what to do with.

The kids jump in them, then we use them to mulch the garden over winter, and then we compost what is left, but there is always WAY more than we can compost.

I will gladly send you a box of leaves when that time comes.

Welcome to the newbies!

And congrats on the pregnancy heathenmom!
I am SOOOO jealous! I want another!

I think I would really love fall if it ever came to Texas. You know how I knew fall was on it's way? Starbucks is now serving pumpkin spice lattes and pumpkin muffins. That's all I've got but all the same, I love this time of year and look forward to it so much. It's a time of change for the better. Leaving the awful heat of Texas summers behind and moving on to more bearable but still very warm Autumn. Hey, anything less than 90 makes me happy.

For Mabon I will be attending a Wiccan Ritual with friends. I am getting ready to make a robe just for Mabon, Pagan Pride Day and Samhain. I've been making tons of great garb. Beautiful hippie type garb. Love that!

I have lots of Pagan related events this month because of Pagan Pride Day, circle and Mabon. I am really enjoying this active community.

I'm actually thinking about starting a business making ritual wear. Maybe "Goddess Apperal". Name ideas? I need some business cards to place with my donated robes and cloaks for PPD auction and raffle.

Anyone reading anything good? I've just finished my books and need something new.

heathenmom congratulations!

Happy Birthday Shelley!

Mabon- well my dd1 will be 4 on the 18th, so her birthday will be the big thing for us. I am still trying to find new pagan friends in the area. Maybe I'll just go visit my old friends.

Last night I had a dream that I went to a UU church (I was trying to find my irl friend who is a UU minister and is moving across the country this Fall - I was trying to find her to say Goodbye before she left). Anyway I managed to drag even dh with me. While there, dh started criticizing their source code (apparently they had a program that summarized their beliefs or something) and then he was criticizing their locks (he's also into security). Then I tried talking to the minister who was there about borrowing some books and she told me that in order to borrow them I had to join the church and be a paying member (and unlike other churches, you didn't give an offering, you were obligated to pay to attend), and I started thinking "Ugh, they're all about money! It's just like scientology" (hope this doesn't offend anyone...)

Anyway, so that's my weird UU dream.

Congratulations heathenmom!

Welcome Michele!

Speaking of decorating, I need to learn to knit faster (or make more hours in the day!!) because I'd absolutely love to make these ~ http://knitty.com/ISSUEfall05/PATTpumpkins.html they're sooo cute :

Thanks for all the happy birthdays! And Hi Elizabeth! I haven't popped over to our DDC in a while, busy and tired....

Speaking of... SO tired beyond speaking right now. sigh preg just kicks my butt by late afternoon/early eve.

Welcome newbies, and Welcome September!

I am waiting for dh to come home so we can go get some dinner. I am low on "fast" food and cannot even fathom cleaning the kitchen and cooking. So we are going out. Maybe I will stay awake through all of it, even.

That's so great!I'm really happy for you! You mamas are killing me! I'm done having babies- why do I keep considering it? My neice, by the way, is preggers with ds # 4!

kidspiration!

I love fall too! It's 100 degrees today, but I've been feeling fall for awhile. Tummy, I'll send you leaves too!

DS will be 3 months old right around Mabon, so I'm considering combining his naming ceremony with a Mabon celebration. We didn't have DD's naming until she was 6 months old, but that would put us right before the December holidays this year and I think it would be too hard to get people together. Plus, I want it to be outside!

The Mabon potluck idea is great. We'll be stealing that.

welcome Kinsey and Michelle!
Did I miss anyone?

I have a pagan parenting meeting next week....I really hope to make it!

We have a black walnut tree in our backyard, so we have collected nuts. we need to take a walk and pick up more.

because my youngest is into trying out everything and anything, we haven't set up our altar...I talked about our nightime prayers and meal times.

I am more aware of taking and giving that goes on everyday. yesterday, I was fortunate enough to have made my entire dinner out of our garden!

I will post the bread recipe soon

We have odd weather right now. It didn't feel much like autumn here until yesterday when Ernesto moved in. It's been much cooler today. Course that likely won't last, but oh well. It's something. Subbing...

Happy september!

Mabon... no plans yet... I don't even have plans for DH's birthday on the 22th : (well... I know I'm going to pick apples with our homeschooling group in the morning and that DD1 will come with us as school is off that day...)

Weather is definitly cooler, it almost gets down to freezing point at night I need to take my tomatoes in before I lose them to the freeze

Going to bed... tired and not feeling too well I think DD1 shared her germs when she was sick last week :

Those pumpkins are so cute. I can't knit but I've been meaning to crochet the witch pattern from dandelion dreams and can't seem to get to it. It's cute but looks complicated.

Me too. It's been in the 90's for a month here, with a HI in the 110's, but for years and years, I start feeling fall's approach in early- to mid-August. I think it has to do with the suble changes in the way the sunlight moves along the ground throughout the day. So beautiful to watch!

Thanks again for all the congrats. We're really happy about this baby, but getting through the 1st tri (along with all the upheaval in our lives right now surrounding where we live) has been trying. It's becoming more and more important for me to set aside time to meditate, but that's really hard to do with a toddler around!! I'm really looking forward to being pregnant during the fall/winter, though. AND, we're planning the homebirth we really wanted with all our births, but were too chicken to make happen with dd. YAY!!

Shelley, I'm feeling you on the exhaustion thing ... and the no-cooking thing too. I'm usually in the kitchen cooking as soon as I get home from work, but my stomach just can't handle it these days. Here's hoping it passes soon, for both of us!

I did that one last year it was really pretty easy - give it a shot! I actually called them trolls and used them year round instead of calling them witches.

If anyone is interested Barnes and Noble University has a free class coming up Backyard Astrology (starts Sept 5th), me and my 12 year old are taking it. Looks kind of cool!

I particular like that they say is will help to understand sky motions and seasonal changes and identify the key constellations of each season. It's something I've been meaning to learn more about for awhile.

Brendon - what do you do with your black walnuts? We have 3 huge trees...

I love Fall, its my favorite time. I was hoping to go to this festival called the Muddy Boot, but its next weekend (I thought it was later in the month, closer to the actual equinox ).

I'd love to hear what you are doing with your families...

I love Autumn and I love to be aware of the change of seasons as we move through the wheel of the year.

Autumn is my favourite time of the year.

for those of you interested in scrolling through random pictures taken by someone you don't know...

here are my neighbors and friends. They have an AMAZING garden, and are very active at Oregon country Fair, and there are some great garden/flower/fairy pics on here. They've lived in their house for like 20 years, and they will walk you through their garden for an hour, pointing things out. Just a really cool vibe that I think comes through in their pics.

I am viewing the pics.....the sunflowers....just stunning!
What a large garden! I would love to tend a garden but I begin feeling overwhelmed at the tending of anything big.

owensmom- well we try to harvest them for eating but alas, we often never get there. it involves alot of room to dry and such. so instead we use them for decorating wreaths and such. i actually do not care for eating walnuts. the girls enjoy playing with them.

honey spice loaf recipe
(this is a bread machine recipe....not exclusively... )
2lb loaf
1 cup milk
1/4cup honey
3 tbs cooking oil
2tbs water
4 cups bread flour (which I do tend to use for my machine)
1 tbs gluten flour
1tsp salt
1tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp cloves
1 1/2 tsp yeast

very nummy

We do walnut hunts at Thanksgiving with my family usually. You know, like Easter egg hunts, except with walnuts. I let the kids paint the walnut shells and then they hide and hunt them outside because it's not yet cold here in November.

Thanks for posting the bread recipe brendon! I'll have to wait or get up early in the morning to put it in since it is still to hot here to use my bread machine, but it does look delicious. So I'd imagine it is a heavier bread then with the gluten flour?
