No Spend Sept - Page 3

Come on mamas! We can do it!

I need to start getting creative. For example DH needs a pair of black wrangler jeans for a wedding he's in. I'm going to ask here on the TP.

I found a pair of black boots for him on ebay and won the auction at 99 cents. Of course you always have to pay shipping though.

Let's support each other.

overspending

Ohhhh the rationalizations...I found myself starving and half an hour from home with errands to run. Took $ out of atm for lunch. then I went to a children's consignment shop where I have credit to get my dd some warm winter clothes. I spent $40 beyond my credit. I tried to feel ok about it, telling myself that it's her entire winter wardrobe for only $40! And it's all used clothing so I can feel good about that. But, if there's nowhere for the money to come from then it wasn't a good decision. End of story. How are others doing? This is hard...

I'll join! We're in the red, so I'm trying to sell things on Ebay and have $ in hand before we buy anything. I did okay with my first go-round of auctions - we'll use that to buy groceries and gas for this month's doctor's app'ts...but it's great to have the no-spend (for "wants") encouragement here. I look forward to all of the support here!

I'm In Even if Sept is half over

I just joined mothering today. I am a mother of 6 (1 biological, 1 adopted , and 4 foster). My husband and I are trying to pay off debt from completely rehabbing our home. We are hoping by cutting our spending we can pay it off sooner. It is just really difficult feeding a family of 8. Does anyone have any dinner ideas that are kid and budget friendly? Thanks, Linda

I'm in now too, even though september is half over. i can not buy anything else this month, at all! I have paid all the bills, so all I have to buy is a book of bus tickets (18.00) and groceries for the next week and a half.
We don't need much because I have a huge bin of flour for bread, meat in the freezer for dh, frozen veggies for soup and tomatoes in the yard. I bet I can get our grocery bill to stay at $100 - which is low for me, usually I spend more than that in a week.
It will be hard for me not to eat out, and to not buy clothes for dd since I have to go exchange a couple of things and all the cute fall clothes are so tempting!

Do you find that when you are trying not to spend all you can think about is buying things? I have this problem.

Who DIDN'T fall off the wagon???

This thread hasn't had any new posting in a while. I know I was naughty, I wonder if EVERYONE else was naughty too.

I'll be in in October! I'm seriously disgusted with the amount of money I've been spending.

I might have problems with the coffee thing though. Can I cheat now and go buy some good coffee for my press??? Maybe, that will stop me from running to Starbucks.:
