Ethan's birth story

I haven't posted here a ton, but here's our story. He was born on the 22nd.

I woke up around 2:00 with pretty bad contractions. They were pretty
consistent, and after about an hour they were around 3 minutes apart. I
wanted to wait as long as possible before going to the hospital. At around 4:00
I told Troy we couldn't wait any more, because my contractions were
getting unbearable.

I started getting dressed, and by that point they were so close together
that I was having a hard time even dressing. So we got in the car and
drove over there. We had to go in through the emergency entrance
because the main entrance closes at night. I got inside and the lady is
asking Troy questions like my date of birth and stuff. My contractions
were very very bad by this point, Troy's having a hard time answering
the questions, so I'm yelling out the answers so we can just get going.

The lady says she'll call an OB nurse to come get me so they can see if
I'm ready to be admitted. I'm thinking these people were pretty dense
to not see that I was clearly pretty far into labor. They brought me a
wheelchair and I sat down in it. I had a contraction with the urge to
push, and I told the ER lady that she needed to get the OB nurse here
quick. Finally the OB nurse gets there, and we start booking it toward
the maternity wing.

When we got into the delivery room, she got me one of those hospital
gowns and told me to change in between contractions. I was having a
contraction at this point, and it never stopped. She kept telling me to
get up, but I was in so much pain I couldn't even move. I think she
realized what was happening and kind of yanked me out of the wheelchair.
My water broke right then, and I could feel the head right there--he was
on his way. So she yanked off my pants and pushed me back onto the bed
(I was laying on it sideways). I pushed for about 2 minutes---really bad pain,
but at least it was quick---and then he was born.

I tore a little bit and had to have a few stitches, but after I was sewn
up and they gave me some pain killers, I really felt pretty good. I was
so glad I could do it natural, because I had always really wanted to but never
thought I could. This time I didn't have a choice. It was kind of a
scary experience, with the baby coming so fast, but it was actually not
bad at all. The labor was quick, and the period of intense pain wasn't
too long. And I think I'm healing quicker than I did with my other two.

He weighed 8 lbs 13 oz, was 21 inches long, and is in wonderful health.
