I'm TTC via donor insemination and have been single for almost thirteen years.

How many children do you currently have?

dd is seventeen and ds is a few weeks shy of fifteen. Phoenix was born alive and healthy fourteen months before dd's birth but it is still too painful for me to tell her story, so I prefer to think of her as an angel.

Will your older children be present for the birth?

I would like for both of them to be there, but it will be up to them. I expect ds to educate himself a lot more if he chooses to be at the birth, though.

Yep, but would like to sew up more varied options (ring sling, mei tai, wraps) this time around.

Yep. I used a diaper service and Bio-Bottoms (wool velcro) covers for the teens and intend to wash my own this time around.

Immunize/Vaccinate your baby?

Limited and delayed with the teens, but I didn't know any better. dd had a convulsion from her first dpt shot and I never used the live pertussis again. ds has some symptoms that may indicate that he is on the autism spectrum, but he is very high functioning and I've never felt that there would be any benefit of slapping a label on him.

You do the best you know how and when you know better, you do better; this baby will not be vaxed.

dd is a homeschool graduate, currently attending community college. ds is homeschooled. The little one will be unschooled.

dd is vegan, I "like vegan foods" but will eat dairy if necessary (can't financially afford vegan alternatives and have a genuine nutritional need for the calories) and ds is in a "rebellion" stage where he eats meat at other people's homes but does not bring it into our house and will eat up as much of the dairy products that come into the house as he can to save the "better" foods for dd and myself.

I mostly lurk and tend to be the biggest drama queen on the ttc boards, but I did want to introduce myself and my hopes for a UC for Maybe Baby since occasionally I bumble across a post where I just plain have to add my two cents worth and I will have lots and lots of questions about my specific circumstances (simply-living SMC of advanced maternal age) when and if I do get pregnant.

Cloth-diaper? That is a project for a less busy time. Can't ask dad to do absolutely everything (SAHD, still adjusting to doing housework, lol!).

Immunize/Vaccinate your baby? Not anymore. Dd got DTaP and HIB at her 6mo appt (she was 7 mo). Unless I find sufficient research to absolutely convince me to vax (potentially selectively), there will be no more vaxing.

Follow a special diet? My son has a lot of allergies so his diet is pretty limited... my diet needs some work. he eats a lot healthier than I do.

Watch TV? yeah. Im a lost addict
Sign with your baby? I did a few with Arien... I dont know how much it helped but it was neat watching him communicate.
Read to your newborn? I read to him on occasion, I read to him a lot more now that he is older and can understand more.
Work outside the home? I do now... I stayed home until he was about 15 months old, then got a part time job at a daycare. I still work part time and Im not sure if we can have me stay home for the first year for this baby or not, but I hope so... Either way I dont work many hours and never use a sitter so its not a big issue. (daddy is very capable!)
Send baby/child to daycare or preschool? nope.
Recycle? nope.

Own or foster pets? a kitty. (named, kitty kitty, because its easy for Arien to say. lol)
Follow a religion? I am an Atheist.
Encourage higher education? If they want it
Generally support union activity? I dont think so.
Boycott companies or countries for human rights reasons (such as formula promotion)? I do boycott a few places.

Baby posessions:
Plastic baby toys? yep, he has tons of plastic crap.
Toy guns? I dont forsee us buying any for our kids.
Other toy weapons? probably not.
Branded characters? within limits. However I have a mil that goes way overboard for any character that my son remotely has an interest in... sponge bob and cars especially.

Are you a feminist? more like... Equal rights and treatment for all, reguardless of gender or sexual orientation. (or race or religion... blah blah blah)
City, Town or Rural? we live in the city, I love it. maybe someday we will buy where the houses are further apart and have more land with them, but still probably very near the city... whichever one.

Where do you fall politically? whenever the right wingers are complaining about the 'damned left wing' I typically find myself agreeing with the left... sooo...


Use a pacifier with your baby? Arien did. Until 6 months he did whenever he wanted, after that it was only in his crib for sleeping and then completely gone at 9 months. I dont know if I will with the next one... probably not because it will interfere with breastfeeding early on. we will see.
