Because it's Kenny Rogers' voice.

He's kinda like the Barry White of the country world.

I love country music but I have never heard that one. It sounds cool though. I like Kenny's voice. I esp like his song about the little boy and the baseball, and of course "The Gambler" and "The Coward of the County"

(Hearing "The Devil Goes Down to Georgia" in my head. I think that's a line, not actually the title?)

I love Kenny Roger's music. Definitely the voice!!! I'm also into country! lol The funny thing is, as upbeat a person as I am, I love the saddest country songs best, lol. Someone once told me that's cause they got "soul"... lol lol

It's also one of my favorite songs that I enjoy hearing still if it happens to come on the radio.

I haven't heard this. I LOVE John Denver...and I like Kenny Rogers voice. I used to HATE country and western music ( grew up hearing too much of it as a kid) until the management changed at a restaurant/bar I worked at and the music changed to all country and western...: And then it kinda grew on me.

Oh, Devil went donw to Georgia is done by the Charlie Daniels band. Love that song! And I love me some Marshall Tucker band, too.

Yee haw!

I hate country music, but I LOVE "what hurts the most" by Rascall Flatts and "Probably wouldn't be this way" by LeAnn Rhimes

I love Fancy by Reba MacEntire

I'm sure some researchers have defined this better, but the sappiest song can move me to tears, when the same words without a melody would never faze me. I think music opens an emotional window that bypasses the filters of rational thought. Certain pieces of music resonate with me (I'm thinking of Ode to Joy, Redemption Song, Truckin', Forever Young, Danny Boy, Amazing Grace and a few more), crossing boundaries of style and going straight to the heart. I'll offen find my eyes leaking while I am driving, when my client in the passenger seat has put on the country station, yet I say I don't like country music.

I've never been a Kenny Rogers fan. Having been raised in Texas, I associate CM with drunken fights. : Can't help it.

Then Kenny Rogers went and had all that plastic surgery, and the way he looks now scares me a little.

But one of my girls was channel surfing last night and we caught a bit of him singing this song. I really liked it a lot, so I looked up the words to the song online. My husband said he thought it was appealing because it addresses our shared experience as a people, and that the last ten years really have been crazy. He's right. They've been just...crazy.

I loved Kenny before Kenny was cool! *sigh* 25 years ago the man was *HOT*.

I haven't heard that song, but I'd go for shared experience thing. We all remember all of those things, we can relate.

Little known fact, (if you are a youngin') Kenny Rogers wasn't always country!!! He started out as a rock 'n roller. Plus, he's an old favorite. I think it is a little creepy too, what he's done to himself, but can we really blame him?

I don't like country music either, but I do like a few artists, The Dixie Chicks and Randy Travis - hey wait, I think he changed genres, but I still like him. And of course, I like some of the old artists like, Lorretta Lynn, Patsy Cline, Dolly Parton, Willie Nelson and because I saw the movie "Walk the Line" - Johnny Cash.

I love all kinds of music, but I can't take the incessant depression of country music. I gotta go for the upbeat stuff - yet, I can't bring myself to like the new modern country/rock.

yup. the voice i bet.

not a lot of "country twang" to it.

Yeah, it's hard to say you hate an entire genre of music. I fall into the Country Music Haters category, but love Willy Nelson and Johnny Cash. I guess it's more the contemporary pop Country that I truly hate, like Shania Twang.
