Progesterone level?

Last month my doctor ordered blood tests and an HSG. I had a follow up appointment at which she told me everything looks good - come back in 4-6 months if not pregnant. As I'm about to start my period soon, I decided I wanted to see the actual numbers of my tests.

I checked on the Fertility Plus website listed in the Infertility board and everything is within normal range except my progesterone was only 8.7. According to the website, over 5 indicates ovulation but doctors prefer to see over 10. So that tells me that 8.7 is not optimal.

Should I think about supplementation (with OTC cream)? Should I call my doctor's office to get a repeat test?

Adding: I tend to have brown spotting for a couple days before my period starts. I wonder if that might have to do with my progesterone level....

ETA - yes I did have the blood draw on 7 DPO.

Here's what i know from progesterone tests - as was my experience when I was pregnant a few months ago.
Mine was 8 on 5DPO (they ran the test too early) - so I'm not sure that it would have been much higher since I had prog. tests later that showed worse results.

When I got pregnant - my levels were 2.9. Really bad. I ended up losing it - but when I was on prescribed natural progesterone suppositories - it stayed at about 15-18. The doctor likes that range for pregnancy (or higher)

***Also - your progesterone comes in surges throughout the day, so if you were to test it every hour, all day long, it would be different every time. I had my progesterone run twice in 15 hours - the first one was 40, the second was 16.8 --- a big difference - so your's might vary between 8.5 and 11.5 or somethings like that.

I just went back in to see him to start TTC again. He ordered more progesterone to be drawn on 7dpo - and said that he wants it to be 15 because I'm on ovulation medication. He said that 10 was normal for non-medicated moms.

Good luck - and call your doc to ask about it if you are still worried.

Yeah I came to the decision that I'm going to call my doctor on Tuesday. I going to ask her about it and tell her that I'm concerned and see what she says. If I don't feel like I get a complete answer from her, I'm probably going to make an appointment with another doctor.
