We're the Blackberry Fields Homestead so we're also the Blackberry Fields Homeschool.

this is how Scott House of Boys sounds, but that's what I've started using since we're officially an all-boys house for good.

Better than Pancake School.

"Drunken, Brawling Trash View Academy". Maybe "My-God-What-Are-Those-Cretins-Doing-Now (?!?!?!) View Academy".

Hard to choose... both have a certain unique flair, though.

Mind Fires Academy

"Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire."
- some old guy whose name I have written down somewhere

We are the Red Mountain Academy as that is a rough translation of our family name. We could also add the "for Boys" part. It is technically a bording school for 3 particular boys afterall!

We would get: Golf Course View School if we did it that way! Or else Cactus View, but I think there's a local school that actually has that name already! DH suggested Palm View School, Dead Dodge View Academy, Bad Golfer View School, Bagpiper View Academy (after our neighbor who practices on his front lawn). Ooh, or we could go with Weed View Academy(reflecting the state of our front yard).

Seriously, though, to answer the question, our school name is Yggdrasil Academy. Motto: Here be Happy Heathen Homeschoolers! (Which I just made up on the fly!) We don't have a mission statement yet, I should do something about that.

Dh calls it the Pajama Homeschool...you can guess why!

Depending which window you look out we would be:

Dog Run View Academy
Big Empty Dirt Lot View School (there were woods there until 2 wks ago : )
Bird Tree View Academy (actually I kind of like Bird Tree Academy!)
Neighbor's Deck View School
OR Forsythia Bush View Academy.

My favorite so far is Drunken, Brawling Trash View Academy. You could go by DBTV! I can just see it on the front of a sweatshirt! :

This thread is cracking me up!!

Ours would have to be a combination of some of the above.
My oldest loves the Magic School Bus, so I think we could aptly call ourselves:

"The Frizzle Institute for Extremely Loud Girls."

we have decided on a not so interesting name

Redwood Academy

our neighbor has redwoods in his yard!

We're Shady Oak Academy. Our motto is: Growing and learning, learning and growing.

Right now we are S.H.O.E, the "(last name) Home of Education" It's actually fashioned after my mom's homeschool name for my sis and brothers (their last name is the same letter as DH's and mine ) But as we get more in hsing (DS is only 2.5) we may change it to something else.

We've been considering this lately.
I was toying around with making a magazine style scrapbook/newsletter about our homeschooling with dd and would like to put the name of our school on it. When we register our private school it would be nice to have a name.

I think we will use Red Planet Academy.
Dd was born in March. Her birth sign is Aries. Her first initial is R. Dd was interested to see pictures of Mars.
Dd has Native American ancestry and I want to include her heritage in our homeschooling. Red Earth is in the name of our community, a Native American band and a non-profit organization promoting and preserving history and culture.

I don't want to exactly copy those so Red Planet seems to sum up everything.

Wow, lots of good (and really funny) ideas here! I am still working on ours. I solicited ds's ideas and he wants to be the Red Ranger Academy this is why you don't ask a 6 year old who is obsessed with Power Rangers

phathui5 - I actually have that quote stuck to my computer with a post it - yesterday I spent an hour online reading quotes about education and learning hoping to be inspired and that quote is the only one that really struck me. I like your name, I may do some variation.

When we register our homeschool with the state, the name we use to register is the official name used through the entirety of homeschooling in that state. So we are trying to think of something that might work for years and years, and that will be on file. Im not sure if unschoolers register with the state where I live. I dont know how much the name is printed on official stuff from the state homeschooling area either.

We are Catholic, so I want to name ours after a saint. I'm thinking of choosing a saint from Sweden, because my late f-i-l's parents were from Sweden. I also like St Michael Homeschool, but I'm not sure yet....

Darn it last night I went to bed with this subject on my mind and remember having a dream about the perfect name and all I can remember is the motto "to live, love, and learn actively", the name it's self is floating around my brain but it's avoiding me!!!! :

I'm hoping that it will pop up soon! All I can remember is I think it had something to do with a bird (hawk?) and a tree. :
