How to hang a quilt on the wall?

I made my very first quilt! I intended to use it as a baby blanket but now I changed my mind and want to hang it as a decoration on the wall. What hardware (if any) can I use? I am looking for simple solution; also, I want this quilt to be taken from the wall easily so that I still can have an option to use it as a blanket occasionally (or this is a bad idea?).

Thanks!

How about sewing a pocket across one end to slide a dowel through. It'll prevent sagging and there's no hardware actually going through the quilt. When you want to take it down, you can just slide the dowel out and since there will only be two small openings on two ends, there's no odd looking hanging apparatus.

It is a great idea. Thanks!

I have to second that idea - we did it with a gorgeous quilt my mother designed and made for our son. We hung the ends of the dowel in some curtain-rod hooks, I think from Ikea.

Yep that works. Or tabs, like you would have on curtains work too depending on the look you want. Depending on the weight of the quilt too, you might not have to do any real serious stitching...a large stitch would probably work. I have actually even just pinned tabs onto a quilt that wasn't terribly heavy and that I didn't plan to have hanging for a real long time.

Congrats on your first quilt too! Isn't that a great feeling?

I have made a small quilt (8"x12") of DDs coloring in muslin that I am going to hang in the toy room using twine and clothes pins. I have made a pocket for the back but I think it will look cute hanging like on a clothes line.

I've hung quilts in the past w/ the paper clips from office depo.....not the wire ones but the ones that are like clippies.....use 4-6 across the top of the quilt and they are strong enough to hold the weight. Pluse you never has to sew a thing.....

I have a friend who makes really cute quilt clips to match any nursery decor - they are very reasonable, imo. Let me know if you are interested and I'll PM you her info.
