Is something wrong with this midwife? - Page 2

She doesn't have to go back. Stop seeing that midwife immediately.

That is some of the worst breastfeeding advice I've ever heard. (I'm floored over that whole cold towel thing.

If I was your friend, I'd file a formal complaint, and I'd tell the midwife's office exactly why I was finding another care provider. If she has a supervisor I could talk to, I'd recommend that the midwife get in touch with LLL and get some formal training in human lactation before she does some real damage! Crazy!

There's abosolutely no reason she has to keep seeing that midwife. I'm in Canada as well, and if you don't want to see a healthcare practitioner, you just stop going. Not a big deal.

Does your local hospital have a lactation consultant on staff? She can take the baby there to be weighed to see how she's gaining.

Sorry, wrong conversion. It is 6.6 lbs (3 kg).

My friend went to a pediatrician when the baby was 2 weeks old. The doctor said that baby was fine, that there was no reason to worry about her weight and no reason to give her formula. He said to come and weight the baby again at one month, not before.
Now the baby is 3 weeks old. I spoke with the mother on a phone today. The baby nurses very strong, the mother has enough milk and now her problem is leaking diapers She thinks that the baby is not gaining weight quickly, but she is not worried about it. It is no reason to give her formula.

I'm so glad the baby's nursing well!

So, is she going to report that awful midwife or what?
