I just bought 6 books. So far I've read "Spiritual Midwifery" by Ina May Gaskin. Fabulously far-out man! The original was printed in 1974, so the terminology is a laugh. But it is great and I learned alot - mostly to "smooch with my man" in labor, have fun and laugh, and "loosen my lips so I can have a loose bottom." I do wonder how these mommas all get to be high during their births - Gimme some! I mean the colors and auras and all that imply some real tripping agent. But the only actual drug mentioned for a lot of the home births was alcohol, to relax the mamma.

I have half read "Hypno-birthing" by someone Mogan, which I am not taking too seriously, but I figure it won't hurt. The CD is relaxing, but doesn't put me to sleep as others have mentioned.

I will start "The Water Birth Book" tonight - will let you know.
