Odd reason to be a lactivist...

So, I'm having an IM conversation with a male friend of mine from high school.

I told him that I've been having recent issues with my MIL trying to pressure me into weaning my not-quite 13 month old, and that DH is kind've on the fence about it, thinking that DD still needs to nurse, but that she is turning into a toddler so maybe I should wean soon.

The male friend responded with "Is your DH nuts? The longer you breastfeed, the longer your boobs stay big! I'm hoping my wife (he is currently single) will breastfeed forever!!"

I got a giggle from it and thought I would share.

hey, whatever keeps the baby on the boob!

Well now you know that he's not going to be one of those husbands who says their wife can't breastfeed because the boobs are his!

When I was in high school there were 3 or 4 girls who had babies and planned to breastfeed for "a long time!" (one was going on 3 years I know they meant it) "because I get two extra cup sizes out of the deal!"

I actually think that one of them was a pretty rad mama and just used it to convince the others

Wow...what a cool guy. Sometimes I'm amazed at the weird tidbits of information guys seem to know about random subjects.

I'll have to add that to my list for my next Advantages of Breastfeeding meeting.

I'm not small chested to begin with. When I was first telling my friends that I was going to have a baby every single one of the guys said something like "Wow, your breasts are going to be even bigger than they are now!" At least it was taken as a given that I would nurse.

My DH's best friend was married and a dad while we were still dating.

at the time we were not planning on having kids and so this friend decided to make it his mission to convince us otherwise.
one of his more persuassive arguments was: ".. PLUS , after the kid is born she gets a big visit from the tit fairy! "

I guess nobody should burst his bubble and inform him that many women's breasts go back to "normal" after a year or so of nursing. I didn't get any smaller when DS finally weaned!

I've gone from a B to a DD, and I'm not even nursing yet!

We were at a party Sunday night and one of the guys commented to my neighbor about me and my large breasts. After which my neighbor introduced him to my DH, who was standing right there!

So I guess my DH is not the only one appreciating my milk-filled breasts!!!

Hysterical!

My dh agrees, but he is anxious to have them all to himself again someday.

Reminds me of the episode of Frasier after Daphne has the baby. Niles looks at her holding the baby and says sweetly, "They're so beautiful." To which his dad replies, "And they'll stay that way, as long as she's breastfeeding!"
