Sophia was born August 22nd. She was a tiny 5 pounds, 8 ounces, and 19.5 inches long. I cannot find any baby hats to fit her tiny head and all the 0-3 month clothes I saved from my first daughter are just huge on her. Abigail is 15 months old now. She was 9 pounds, 9 ounces and also 19.5 inches long. Abigail has dark, big, beautiful blue eyes, and brown cury hair. Sophia looks like she may have my brown eyes, and may even have reddish blonde hair. Both me and her dad have dark brown hair! She doesn't have as much hair as Abigail did. Abigail had dark brown hair which lightened up as she got older. Sophia looks a lot like her dad, has his forehead, nose, chin, and Abigial looks a lot like me (except she got her dad's blue eyes).
Abigail has said "I love you" to Sophia, even though she's never said those three words to me. She also signs for baby and then points at the baby, gives her hugs and kisses and gazes into Sophia's eyes as though she truly is in love with her little sister. There are times, such as when I'm breastfeeding, that Abigail acts a little jealous, so I try to cuddle with her at the same time, but sometimes, she just gets overly rough, and I have to tell her to be gentle. For the most part, she is adjusting very well to have a baby sister.
I am totally worn out, though. My husband took a week off, but he's been back to work for a week now. He was very helpful the first week, but since returning to work, he has returned to his old habits of not helping take care of the animals, not helping change diapers, not cooking, not any household chores, and I even had to help him with the garbage (his one and ony job at home) thursday night in order to motivate him to do it.
I feel like I am constantly running around, give Abigial food, nurse Sophia, change Abigial, change sophia, wash clothes, Change diapers again, wash dishes, feed Abigial, nurse Sophia, clean up toys, it just goes on and on. I barely get a chance to go to the bathroom without one of them needing something.
After bathing Sophia tonight (her second bath at home), and feeding her, I put her to sleep in her bassinet in our bedroom. About an hour later (8:30 pm), Abigail went in and fell asleep in our bed all by herself. This is a first. She always falls asleep on me on the couch, on her pillow on the living room floor, or waits for me to go to bed and snuggle her to sleep. We have been cosleeping with Abigail since day one. I wonder if the reason she went to bed by herself was because Sophia was in the room, and Abigail had watched me put Sophia to bed.
