Laws in my state...

I know this probably makes me sound a bit like a doofus, but I don't know what the laws are in my state. I am having a homebirth this time largely due to the fact that my MW has gone into Homebirth practice. I have always been a total advocate of HB but DH was more comfortable with having our first naturally in a hospital with our MW. Homebirth was "A-legal" in Virginia for a long time, and just became legal I think within the past year. I did a Google search and I couldn't find any info. at all about the laws here. I was wondering if anyone might have some websites I can visit to get some info. To be honest I wouldn't normally care a bit about the "legality" of homebirth, but I am 2 days past my due date and I want to know how far I can go before my MW's have to turn me over to the hospital. Yes, I know, it's not too late to consider UC :!

"Certified Professional Midwives are licensed to practice in the State of Virginia.

On March 29, 2005 Governor Mark Warner signed into law two identical bills, HB 2038 and SB 1259, that provide for the licensure of Certified Professional Midwives (CPMs). "
