And I know you are awaiting the movie as anxiously as I (was it ScarJo that is playing Anne? I know La Portman is Mary)-

Has anyone read 'The Constant Princess' (by same author), about Katherine of Aragon? I had been putting off reading it for awhile, 'yeah, yeah, that boring devout old broad' half-tempered with sympathy for her position but for Henry's too, the historicals I've read with her bad English & 'foreign' ways making her seem like such an outsider.

But now that I've started reading it- wow. It is wonderful to finally read something from HER pov, as a strong, determined Princess. It humanized her in a way I haven't yet seen. Poor Katalina!

PS In Downtown Disney at a store that sells celeb memorabilia, while everyone else was gawking at Ewok suits & Hendrix's guitar- ok, I gawked a bit at that too , but you know, autographed Telly Savalas albums etc are more usual there, that kind of stuff- they had huge framed letters from Ferdinand & Isabella (Katalina's 'rents) that I was just mesmerized by (and more so, now). The quality of the paper, the fibers, the different penmanship... It was like a window in Time. If you are a history buff & find yourself headed to Disney World, check them out. Tres cool.)

Wow! I don't know where I've been-I had no idea they were making a movie out of this book! It would certainly make a good movie though!

I've read The Queen's Fool and enjoyed it. I have another of her books on my shelf waiting to be read-I just need to make the time to get to them. Did you see that she has a new book, The Boleyn Inheritance? It looks pretty good too.

I have to read this one still, I am reading the Constant Princess now and have read The Little House, which I hated all the way through, it was brilliantly written and my heart ached for the young mother portrayed, so it was a hate based on the beautiful writing and heartbreaking story, which means in the end I loved it and was sad to see it end, but it has a very satisfying ending! (did that make any sense?)

Just finished it. Whew! Wow. I had no idea about Katherine & the Battle of Flodden. No idea. What a brave, empowered woman. I feel so bad for being impatient with her & her sewing Henry's damned shirts. I should have known there was more to her.

HIGHLY recommended.
