Has anyone taken Femara while nursing? I looked on Dr. Hale's site but couldn't find any info regarding this.

All I can say is that I have taken it while nursing. Only one cycle as I did not ovulate when taking it. I don't know its official safety while BFing. I guess the good thing is, you only take it for a few days. Also I was not BFing more than 3 brief times a day when taking it.

Best,

Unfortunately, according to Hale's, it's an L4. Here's what it says, "No data are available on its transfer to human milk, but I would suspect the levels are low....it has a very long half life which is concerning in a breastfed infant." Under pediatric concerns, "None reported via milk, but this agent is probably too hazardous to use in a breastfeeding woman."

HOpe that helps!

Oh, thank you both very much for your replies. I did start taking it this cycle (CD3-7) - however, the info from Dr. Hale does concern me. My dd, 23 mths, nurses around 3x a day....

Hmmm, not sure what to think now, especially since I've already started taking it.

I hope I am not stepping on any toes, but don't you think you don't ovulate while nursing for a reason? Just wondering... I always thought it was an evolutionary thing to space out kids.
