All Day Scrapbook Crop!

A few days ago I went to my first scrapbook "crop" ever. (For those who don't know, like I didn't, a "crop" just means getting together to work on your scrapbooks).

My MIL recently began scrapbooking and this crop was thrown by her Creative Memories consultant. My MIL bought the ticket for me and a bunch of scrapbook stuff too!

ANyway, we didn't stay the whole time (8 hours!) but we stayed for about 5 hours and....I had SO MUCH FUN!!!!! It was so great to spend all that time relaxing, chatting with other women, working on my scrapbook, and NOT getting interrupted! Not changing diapers, cleaning spills, finding lost toys, cleaning, cooking, playing pretend, etc etc. It was great to see all these women just relaxing and having fun.

There were about 90 women there. One had her baby (10 weeks old) and one bought her daughter (probably 9 or 10) and NO other kids. Wow. The next day I went to a LLL conference- babies and kids EVERYWHERE! (including mine) And that is lovely, of course. But that is my life, day after day after day. It was fun to do something that was NOT typical of my very kid-centered lifestyle.

Anyway, I'm rambling. Just wanted to share how wonderful this experience was for me. I called a creative memories person in my town so I could start going to "crops" around here too.

Anyone else here do this type of thing? I swear, when the kids are older, I could see becoming a CM consultant. Seemed like a fun way to make money...

My mom and I hold crops once a month - nothing like the 90 people festival you attended , but usually 4-6 ladies will get together. I leave my two boys with their Dad for the afternoon and just have a blast chatting and working on my scrapbook. I always come home recharged - getting to be away for a bit and focusing on these photos/memories of the special times with my family. It's wonderful!

My SIL and a friend and I get together once a month and do scrapbking. Kids all stay with dads at another house! We only have about 2 hrs and don't get more than a few pages done but it's progress and it's fun for us.
We've talked about an all day thing but never done it-now we'll have to try it.

A local shop is having a "Midnight Madness" crop from 10pm-12am this Saturday. No kids to worry about there-I think we're all going!

I love to scrapbook! I go to a CM crop once a month and my neighbor and I get together about twice a month to crop. The kids play and so do we! Sometimes CM can be expensive. I search out other alternatives for paper buying and use the local scrapbooking store's die cutting machines. It's free...

Hi! I started scrapbooking a few months back, and I love going to crops. It's like my "me time" which is not something I get a lot of, and it's really nice especially now that my ds is a toddler - he just stays at home w/ my dh while I go. I try and go about once a month, but my CM consultant is moving - she has the crops 2x per month at her house. There will be another lady that is taking over for her, but not for a couple of months. Anyways, I've never been to anything as big as what you were at, but I love going and talking w/ other women and just working on my ds' baby book!

Sarahmae, when you go to the crops at the conultant's house, is there a charge? The all-day crop was $30, and that included breakfast and lunch.

Yup, it is $10 for about 5hrs. and there are usually snacks and stuff. Hers are usually on friday evenings, and then sometimes some of us go out afterwards as well to Applebees or something. She did have 1 all day thing a while back where lunch was included and I think it was like $30 but I didn't go to that one. Also, if it's just a crop and you want to use her things (papers, stickers, etc.) you pay just for what you use of hers, plus the $10. (Of course if you have all of your own supplies then you wouldn't need to worry about that.) If it's a party then it's just ten bucks and you can use any of her stuff for free. You also usually get a 'free gift' and a free page, and she does drawings for something, like stickers too.

that sounds like so much fun!

I haven't scrapbooked since dd started napping less in the day. I used to do it all the time though.
I've been to 2 crops one was about8 women and the other was a big conference and there were thousands of women. The smaller one was a lot more fun.

Ohh, I love crops and attend one a couple times a month at a friend's house who happens to be a CM consultant. She doesn't charge for her bi-weekly crops which are usually 3 hours long or four.

But she did hold her all-day affair last Sunday which I attended. It costs $10 (I think) and included lunch. such a bargain!!!

And like everyone else said it's wonderful me time and a great and creative outlet for the mind -- very stimulating!! And everyone always loves the beautiful end products.

I'm working on a Celebrate Me album as a legacy to pass down to my children when they are grown and that is turning into a really eye-opening expereince.
