Saw a not intact penis :(

I was changing the nappy of a baby I've just started looking after. At first I thought there was something wrong with his penis... was it malformed? Then I realised this must be circumcision
I really thought there was something wrong with him & it gave me a fright.

THEN, I've started thinking that perhaps I've just been lucky - the eight other penises I've seen in my life, adult and infant, have all been intact.

Does anyone know how common circumcision is here in Australia?

*ETA I hope this post is appropriate... I just needed to express my shock and that it really creeped me out.

Well, its not as common as here in the usa.:
I did not think it was happening down there unless for religious reason, but I "think" someone just posted the other day on another thread after I had asked its around 20%?

My hubby is Australian and is intact and so is his family.
Our new nepfew is intact!

I have seen plenty of circ babies, we are here in the usa. and it does look like they are naked and I should not be looking!

Same thing happened to me yesterday. It was my first day doing childcare for this little guy. Took him to potty and sadly he is circumcised. It's too bad, I as hopeful when I took him on as we have a good number of people around here that don't do it. Poor little guy. All I could imagine after that was hiim strapped down and having that ripped off him, it made me so sad.:

That's my problem, too...I see their sweet little faces and can't fathom how someone could violate them like that.

It's my understanding that when the (Australian?) pediatrics academy no longer recommended circumcision in 1980, the circ rate almost immediately plunged. I think, why can't Americans be as bright? I've talked to an 18-year-old Australian online who is circumcised and he said only one in five are circumcised these days. I assume he means of his age group (mid-to-late-teens). It seems hit and miss when it comes to Aussies over 20... 25, but those under the 20-set are more likely than not, INTACT!

It is rather unbearable and upsets me to think about this as well. I am always shocked about how some can subject innocent and helpless children to this horrific, awful violation, it is a kind of sexual assault or rape.

I would never imagine doing this to my own children. And I am a unintact man, and who had this assault inflicted on me (and yes, it is as bad as it seems it is, it should be a criminal act, since at least for me, the emotional harm it caused is severe, and the physical harm).

Ive heard it said soceities greatest insanity seems normal to itself.
