Disappointed....Suri - Page 2

FWIW, the nursing bra photo meant nothing to me. Just because she is conveniently, 'accidentally' spotted with a flap down doesn't mean she's breastfeeding.

I'm just here to second what JeDeeLenae said. I am a Scientologist too and do breastfeed. Mr. Hubbard's text on breastfeeding is outdated (he wrote it when he had his own kids in the 50's) I know a dozen other Scientologists my age that all BF, and most of them BF for a year or more. I really hope that Katie is still nursing that sweet baby.

i actually have no idea about their situation (i guess none of us do, but i don't have tv, so i'm even more out of the loop) but here's what i thought when i read what a pp wrote about katie's nursing bra:
i LOVE my nursing bras, they're the comfiest bras i've ever had. i'm a nursing bra convert. i plan to wear them in the retirement home when i'm 80 (hopefully ds will have weaned by then)
so maybe katie had the same glorious moment of realization when she tried on a nursing bra, and she's a convert, too.
although i'd rather she was actually nursing, anything is possible.

I heard about that interveiw to were Tom said she was bfing. I just wish they were more vocal about it instead of highlighting the bottle thing. Cause like one pp said to main stream bottle = formula.

Yeah, but I wonder what a stir it would cause if Tom starting speaking out about breastfeeding being best. I can see it now.... "When Tom has boobs, he can tell me that's what's best for my baby..."

Bingo. I'd rather the world thought they were feeding the kid barley gruel. Lactivists do not need Tom, thank you.

I thought she was going to breastfeed! I don't see why it can't be EBM. I work full time and my grandmother watches him for me. I wonder how many times my son was at the store w/ his nannie getting a bottle of EBM and someone saying in their head, poor baby, look at that disguisting bottle in his mouth, mama probably didn't know any better.

those pictures of Suri sure look like she's got a nursing blister!

I think she's nursing - but she's been away from her, so I'm sure she gets bottles sometimes.

And I've seen quite a few babies on Barley formula that had no issues. Their peds had no issues with the Barley formula either. I guess you just have to talk to your ped.

Anyway, I'm a Scientologist and pro-BF too... I guess it's sad that they don't specify whether it's breastmilk or formula, but at least she did it for some time. Some time is better than popping that nice bottle of Enfamil in their mouth at birth.
Thanks for letting me know about the breastfeeding. I get quirky questions about my religion, too - I don't mind being set straight.

The barley formula - my ped and I did talk about that at my last visit, right after Suri was born when all the media coverage was going on. She said it was associated with anemia because of low iron content, and was lacking other vitamins like A and C, so she thought it was a bad idea.

I hope she's still breastfeeding, but reading the article in Vanity Fair - it didn't sound like it.

I know that at that age if I'd gone out to a Cirque de Soleil show, I'd be full to bustin' at the end of it without pumping. And she's been all over with Tom, no PIS slung over her shoulder.

I vote that she probably did nurse at first but has long since given it up.

That's exactly what I was thinking.

Sorry, I know this is totally OT - but I'm so glad I'm not the only one! My son weaned himself months ago, and I CANNOT give up my Bravado nursing bras. They are so comfy...I've even gone to the store and looked at regular bras, but I've yet to buy one - I can't bring myself to give up my nursing bras.

I used to think that too! Granted, Rowan hated the bottle, he'd starve till he got his boobie on the rare occasion I had to pump for him but still. I often thought what if I pumped and someone fed him a bottle, everyone would assume it was formula!! And I'd be HORRIFIED!!!
