Hi all, it is planting time here...
Every year Dh and I have our yard transformed into a garden.

Dh is mexican and we eat TONS & TONS of Tomatillos...
we really want to plant them this year.. that way we can save some money, and also know what is being put on our food.

Does anyone know how I can get them to grow.?
The general plant the seed out of the veggie is not working this time.

wow, i did that when the seed was not so easy to find, and had no problems, being that they are not highly hybridized. how did you dry/sow the seeds? (i am sort of assuming you are having trouble finding it and don't want to order it online/mail order?) i just use a general kind of tomato/pepper growing instructions, and they do well.

ps the purple kind is excellent; chan, don't you have a seeds of change offering? (along w/ some slow-bolt cilantro )

You may not be able to grow them because you're working with a hybrid, the seeds of which are often infertile.

I had a hard time finding non-hybrid seeds (although you might try Cook's Garden or Shepherd's Seeds), so I ordered plant starts through Plantfields. They can be found here:http://plantfields.com/Piedmont/home.asp?pg=home

Good luck! I, too, am looking forward to lots and lots of home canned tomatilla salsa. Can't get enough of the stuff.

i have *never* even seen hybridized tomatillo seed offered anywhere, chalupa- can you tell me where? (i grow mostly OP stuff, but i like to try out the occasional hybrid, too- for example, many heirloom tomatoes just can't cut it disease-wise around here and unless i stick with wildy little invincible currant tomatoes, i am forced to turn to the hybrids.) even the purple variety is OP, to the best of my knowledge.

i really like pinetree for my seeds:

as you can see, they have 3 op varieties, and at a very reasonable price (i have always had good germination results with my orders from them.) they are easy enough to find at burpee, etc., but i like to give my business to a little company (that delivers more bang for the buck, too.) 80 cents!
