Let's talk about video games

Hi
My DH and I like to play the ol' playstation 2 games. We aren't on the cutting edge but we enjoy I believe what are called "hack & slash" games--my all time favorite being Baldur's Gate. We've got Baldur's Gate 2 & Legends of Norrath but they just aren't as good. Any recommendations for other games? They don't necessarily have to be the same genre but they need to be 2 player so DH and I can play at the same time. Otherwise I just sit and watch him play cuz I tend to die a lot more quickly

Can't believe I am chiming in here.

Okay, my older son has a multiple player game called Halo and he and his friends really liked it. I think there are also, other games related to it that came afterwards. They can be played with one or more players. Lots of fighthing.

He has a game called Oblivion I think, but I can't remember if it is one player only or not. I will try to remember to ask, and come back and tell you.

*I* am not much of a video game player. I get stuck in the corners, and die very quickly.

I get frustrated when I can't pry my boys OFF the games because there are chores to do or it is dinnertime, or we have to go somewhere NOW!

My younger son has some games, too, but I think most of his are one player.

I THINK Halo is ps2...but it may be X-box.

DH and I love those games too.

What we play:
Champions of Norrath and the sequel CON:Return to Arms
LOVE these games. Played them until 2 am once LOL!

Have you tried Gauntlet? Loads of fun.

Star Wars Battlefront is fun, you can play vs. mode or cooperative mode (I prefer cooperative, DH is waaay too competitive and he just takes me out too quick). It's a neat shooter game, but in Battlefront 2 you can earn points to play as Jedi characters too.

Do you like racing games at all?
The CARS video game was fun, we rented it mainly for the kids, but DH and I had fun w/ it too.

Soul Caliber 3 is a fun vs. sword fighting/martial arts game. I played it and fiddled around to figure out the special moves, and now I can give DH a run for his money LOL! Warning: some of the characters use mild foul language. Some characters wear very revealing costumes.

count me in! Gauntlet, Champs of Norrath...but what DH and I really love are Final Fantasy games.....ok, don't laugh, but we are seriously considering giving our next dd the middle name Quistis: It started as a joke....but it has really grown on both of us! I'm not pg yet though so we'll see

I have only played FF7 for the PC. I wish I could play FF7 for PS. It was fun, but my stupid computer was really too slow to make it run right.

I never tried any other FF games. DH doesn't like them.

We take turns with Final Fantasy (and right now, Kingdom Hearts 2). It works.

PS As long as we are on this geek thread is it a good place to mention the upcoming Dragonlance movie? :
Dh heard it from his friend who went to Dragoncon, who heard it straight from Margaret & Tracy.

Kiefer Sutherland as Raistlin, & Lucy Lawlass as Goldmoon! (It's animated, dammit!) But still. We are v excited, we have been imaginarily casting this thing on altfandragonlance since the mid nineties.

Which Gauntlet do you like? I bought one used a while back and it was pretty lame. I think it was just too darn old. And is any FF good or do you have a favorite?

I like Champions of Norrath but the graphics are hard to see on our very old fashioned TV. Does anyone else love Baldur's Gate?

Yup Baldur's gate here too...as for gauntlet..seven sorrows was ok...I didn't like it as much as Baldur's gate or Champions of Norrath. as for FF...VII is the best story wise, but I loved VIII and IX and REALLY like X and X-2 (X is probably my 2nd favorite. VII is what DH and I played when we frst started dating.....so I will always have a special place in my heart for it I also liked the first Kingdom hearts, but I didn't have time to get into the new one.
DH likes silent hill, resident evil and those kind of games.....did anyone see the Silent hill movie....I didn't mind it but DH didn't think it was that great. I do like the games though...I like the puzzle and story aspects of them more than the jumping out of the zombies, etc.
On a side note, do your DP's like that you are a gamer? DH said that I am the "perfect" woman....I am him.....with boobs and a vagina:

Oh HECK yeah. DH loved it when I started playing games with him, and finally got good enough to give him a run for his money LOL!

You should have SEEN the faces of the guys at the video game store.

Picture this:
Heavily pregnant woman walks in. The guy behind the counter says "Can I help you?"
She asks "Do you have any copies of the new Prince of Persia game?"
Shocked look "No, we only have one and it's checked out. The company headquarters had us stock 6 copies of the King Kong game, but they'll only let us get one rental copy of PoP."
"Wow, that's really short-sighted. Let me know when you get the Prince of Persia copy in." waddling off to look over the rest of the games...

My Ds is the gamer around here. He has a PS2, but may add xbox or something else soon. He loves Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, Kingdom Hearts, the Final Fantasy games, God of War, Prince of Persia, etc.

We really liked Champions of Norrath but not so much Return to Arms. Now we just play World of Warcraft.
